Common use of Selection Panels Clause in Contracts

Selection Panels. (a) A selection panel shall be convened within 16 days of the closing date of the competition. The time limits above may be amended by mutual agreement. (b) The most senior qualified employee within the appropriate classification within the seniority block where the posting originated will be awarded the vacancy. Failing this, the most senior qualified employee within the classification series within the seniority block will be awarded the posting. (c) If there are no successful applicants within the seniority block, the company will look at qualified applicants from within the company. If there are no qualified applicants, the company may recruit. (d) All selections for road foremen and trades supervisors being made on the basis of ability, skill and qualifications recognizing that, when two or more employees possess relatively equal ability, skill or qualifications, the senior employee will receive the posting.
