The Shift Change and Relocation clause defines the employer's right to alter an employee's work schedule or assign them to a different work location. In practice, this means the employer can change shift times, such as moving an employee from a day to a night shift, or require the employee to work at another branch or site within reasonable limits. Shift Change and Relocation. The parties recognize that giving consideration to seniority promotes improved employee morale and productivity. Employees may request to relocate from one area of the local duty station to another (or from one shift to another) in the same position, title, and series within the same service and with the same advancement potential. In filling such vacancy, seniority will be considered and the request will be granted if the employee has the requisite skills and abilities provided such relocation would be consistent with effective and efficient staffing. The Department reserves the right to make the assignments based on other good faith considerations in assuring effective management of the work force.
