Common use of Short Breaks Clause in Contracts

Short Breaks. 6.1 Direct Payments can be used to purchase a short stay in residential care or a break away from home as detailed in Support Plan. This is provided that the stay does not exceed 4 consecutive weeks in any 12 month period. 6.2 Direct Payments can be used to pay for residential breaks throughout the year unless 4 consecutive weeks have been used in a 12 month period. N. B. Where a period between 2 stays is less than 4 weeks apart, the 2 stays should be added together and must not exceed 4 weeks.
