Lunch Breaks Clause Samples
The Lunch Breaks clause establishes the entitlement and scheduling of meal breaks for employees during their work shifts. Typically, it specifies the minimum duration of the lunch break, such as 30 or 60 minutes, and may outline whether the break is paid or unpaid, as well as any conditions for when the break must be taken (for example, after a certain number of hours worked). This clause ensures that employees have adequate rest periods during the workday, promoting health and productivity while also helping employers comply with labor laws and regulations regarding employee welfare.

Lunch Breaks. The lunch break will consist of a one-half hour (or one hour where scheduled) unpaid break taken mid-way during regular work day. In the event that an employee is required to work during his regular lunch period he shall be allowed a one-half hour lunch period between the hours of ll:30 a.m. and l:00 p.m., otherwise he shall be paid double time for working through said lunch period.
Lunch Breaks. (a) A lunch break of either one-half (½) hour or one (1) hour duration will be taken midway between the starting and quitting time of each shift. However, if job conditions require, the lunch break may be moved up to one (1) hour in either direction.
(b) If an employee is not provided time to commence his lunch period between one (1) hour before and one (1) hour after the mid-point of the shift, he shall be paid at the applicable overtime rate for working through his lunch period. In such cases where the employee is not provided with a lunch break, the regular working day shall not be arbitrarily reduced when work is available.
Lunch Breaks. All bargaining unit employees shall receive a paid lunch period of forty-five (45) minutes.
Lunch Breaks. A period during the scheduled shift during which the employee remains on continual duty and is responsible for assigned duties.
Lunch Breaks. All employees covered by the Agreement who work four (4) hours a day or more shall be provided an uninterrupted daily unpaid thirty (30) minute lunch break to be scheduled at approximately the halfway point on their work schedule. The unpaid lunch break may be extended for a period of not longer than one (1) hour as determined by the District. Unless the employee is relieved of all duty during the specified lunch break, such break shall be considered an “on duty” meal period and counted as time worked. An “on duty” meal period shall be permitted only when the nature of the work prevents an employee from being relieved of all duty.
Lunch Breaks. (a) Generally, each employee will take at least one half (½) hour, but not more than one (1) hour, of unpaid lunch break each workday, at a time established by the employee’s supervisor.
(b) In the event that an employee is required by his/her supervisor to work through the break, such time will be treated as paid work time.
(c) If an employee is excused from taking a lunch break or required to work through lunch, the employee may vary her/his usual time of arrival or departure if expressly authorized to do so by her/his supervisor.
Lunch Breaks. Lunch breaks shall be one (1) hour of paid time. If the supervisor is not allowed one hour to eat, the supervisor will be compensated for a maximum of one hour or the difference between the time used for lunch and one hour.
Lunch Breaks. A regularly-scheduled workday shall consist of eight (8) consecutive hours of work within a maximum nine (9) hour period, interrupted by an unpaid meal break of not less than one- half (1/2) hour.
Lunch Breaks. Employees scheduled to work 7 hours or more per day will be entitled to a ½ hour paid lunch break. Employees who work less than 7 hours will not be given paid break time. (i.e. an employee scheduled to work 6 hours per day is not entitled to a paid break, therefore if such an employee takes or is scheduled for a ½ hour lunch break during their day, they would be required to be at work for a total of 6 ½ hours, but paid for only 6 hours.)
Lunch Breaks. Employees working twelve (12) hour shifts shall receive a thirty (30) minute paid lunch break within a two (2) hour time period from the middle of their shift. All other employees, regardless of the length of shifts being worked, shall receive a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch within a two (2) hour time period from the middle of their shift.
