Sick Leave Pool. A. A sick leave pool shall be established for use by participating full-time employees. B. Participation in the sick leave pool shall be voluntary on the part of each full-time employee. C. All full-time employees shall be eligible for participation in the sick leave pool after one (1) year of employment by the Okaloosa County School Board provided said employee has accumulated a minimum of twelve (12) days accrued sick leave. D. Any sick leave pooled pursuant to this Article shall be removed from the accumulated sick leave balance of the employee donating such leave and shall not be available to the donating employee as sick leave. Sick Leave Pool. A. A The Administration and the UFF-BC agree to the formation of a sick leave pool effective January 1,1990. The following procedures shall be established for use by participating full-time employees. B. Participation in the sick leave pool shall be voluntary on the part of each full-time employee. C. All full-time employees shall be eligible for participation in the sick leave pool after one (1) year of employment by the Okaloosa County School Board provided said employee has accumulated a minimum of twelve (12) days accrued sick leave. D. All participants in the pool shall donate 2 days of accrued sick leave to the pool and have their personal sick leave accrual reduced by the same amount. 4. If the sick leave pool during becomes depleted, all participating Faculty members shall contribute an additional 1-day of sick leave and have their personal sick leave accrual reduced by that amount. The pool shall be considered depleted when the first twenty (20) school total number of credits in the pool is 30 days or fewer. The pool shall not be replenished more than 2 times in any 12-month period. B. Utilization of each school yearPool 1. Use of sick leave pool credits is limited to the Faculty member's personal illness, accident, or injury. 2. The employee who cancels membership in the Faculty members must have been absent from scheduled duty days for a minimum of 20 duty days, and must have exhausted all accrued sick and vacation leave before being eligible to apply for sick leave pool shall not be eligible to withdraw the days of sick leave the employee has contributed to the poolcredits. Sick Leave Pool. A. A In accordance with the following provisions, a faculty member may elect to pool accrued sick leave pool for disbursement to any participating faculty member who needs sick leave time in excess of the amount of his accrued sick leave: A. The Office of Human Resources shall have the authority to administer and implement the Sick Leave Pool for faculty members in accordance with the provisions of Article 13 of this Agreement and the laws of the State of Florida. The decisions of Human Resources shall be established for use by participating full-time employeesfinal. B. Participation A faculty member may participate in the sick leave pool shall be Sick Leave Pool on a voluntary on the part of each full-time employeebasis. C. All full-time employees A faculty member shall be eligible for participation in the sick leave pool Sick Leave Pool after one (1) year of employment by with the Okaloosa County School Board College, provided said employee the faculty member has accumulated accrued a minimum of twelve (12) days accrued of unused sick leave. Each participating faculty member shall make an initial contribution of four (4) days of accrued sick leave to the Sick Leave Pool. No additional contributions to the Sick Leave Pool will be required unless replenishment is needed for the Sick Leave Pool. If the number of days of accrued sick leave in the Sick Leave Pool is reduced to twenty-five (25) days, all participants shall be removed from assessed with the accumulated sick leave balance same number of days as is necessary to replenish the Sick Leave Pool to a minimum of two hundred (200) days. G. Sick Leave Pool. A. The Committee and the Association agree to a Unit A Sick Leave Pool under the following guidelines: 1. Each member of the bargaining unit shall be a member of the Sick Leave Pool. 2. The Sick Leave Pool shall be funded as follows: a. Unused days in the Sick Leave Pool at the end of one school year shall be carried forward to the Sick Leave Pool at the beginning of the next school year, including those unused days in the Sick Leave Pool on June 30, 1988. b. After applying the eighteen (18) sick leave pool days of annual accrual to each teacher's individual account at the beginning of school in September, days left over at the end of the year beyond the maximum accumulation allowed, under Section C above, shall be established for use by participating full-time employees. At the end of each school year, unused sick leave days of teachers who retire and/or resign, up to a maximum number of days equal to the number of members in the bargaining unit, shall be voluntary on added to the part of each full-time employeedays in the Sick Leave Pool. No other sick leave contribution will be required, except that each participating employee shall be required to contribute an additional day of accrued sick leave if the sick leave pool balance accumulation has been reduced below one exhausted may apply to the Sick Leave Pool Committee, such Committee consisting of five (15) day for each two members of the Association appointed by its President. Such teacher may receive a maximum of ten (210) participating employeesdays per school year when the need arises. In This time may be extended if two-thirds the event a member does not have any days at the time of Association's Executive Board so votes. b. Each request for an additional day, they shall contribute the next day they earn to the sick leave pool. 1. Sick Leave Pool. A. A In accordance with the following provisions, a faculty member may elect to pool accrued sick leave pool for disbursement to any participating faculty member who needs sick leave time in excess of the amount of his accrued sick leave: A. The Office of Human Resources shall have the authority to administer and implement the Sick Leave Pool for faculty members in accordance with the provisions of Article 13 of this Agreement and the laws of the State of Florida. The decisions of Human Resources shall be established for use by participating full-time employeesfinal. B. Sick Leave Pool. A. A Each officer shall accumulate 120 hours of sick leave, with pay, per calendar year. When the total number of sick leave pool hours drops below 5,600, 8 hours of sick leave with pay from each officer participating in the program shall be established for use by participating full-time employees. B. Participation in become part of the sick leave pool, and any remaining hours shall continue to be credited to the individual officer. Officers having opted not to participate will not, under any circumstances, be allowed to enter the pool at any later date. Any Officer who voluntarily drops out of the pool may not, under any circumstances, be allowed to re-enter the pool. Notification to the Accounting Unit must be provided, in writing, by the Officer who drops out of the pool. The Accounting Unit shall include a copy of this report in the Officer's file, and must forward a copy to the Chief's Office for inclusion in the Officer's permanent "201" file. A copy must also be voluntary on sent to the part Association within thirty (30) calendar days of each full-time employee. C. All full-time employees the date the Officer requests to drop out of the sick leave pool. Employees The Chief of Police and the President of the Association shall be eligible each appoint an equal amount of officers to join a committee in rank to administer the sick leave pool. The Committee shall then elect a chairman. The resulting vacancy will be filled by the opposite appointing officer from that receiving the chairmanship. Example: If the Chief of Police appointee is elected chairman, the Association President shall appoint for the created vacancy. The Chief of Police will select one Sergeant, one Detective and one Patrol Officer. The Association President will select one Detective and two Patrol Officers. In cases where an officer applies for sick leave pool benefits and holds a rank higher than sergeant, the Chief and President of the Association will each appoint one person of rank equal to or higher than held by the requesting Officer. All committee members shall be appointed on or before October 1 of each year and shall serve one-year terms. Any vacancies occurring during the first twenty course of the term shall be filled within twenty-one (2021) school days of calendar days. No person shall be allowed to serve more than one (1) consecutive term. The City shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless each school yearcommittee member. The following requirements determine when a committee may consider when sick leave pool hours may be drawn. A decision by the committee shall be final. 2A. Officers may be considered for sick leave pool hours after taking off 120 consecutive working hours of continuous non-job-related illness or injury. The Department shall reimburse the Officer, from the hours in the sick leave pool, for any type of leave hours used in excess of the 120 consecutive working hours, if reimbursement is approved by the Sick Leave Committee. B. No officer shall be permitted to use more than 1440 pool hours for a single illness or injury. C. Pool hours may not be used for injuries or illnesses sustained in the line of duty. D. The number of hours in the pool shall be solely for the benefit of officers with extended injuries or illnesses, and such hours shall not be eligible revert to withdraw the days of accumulated sick leave of individual officers. E. Pool time may only be used for disability, which is defined as a non-job-related injury or illness, which prevents an Officer from fully performing assigned duties in all major divisions of the employee Department. ▇. The Committee Chairman may at any time or at the request of the Chief of Police reconvene the Committee for further consideration should evidence come forward that would affect the outcome of a Committee decision after a decision has contributed to been reached. The Committee by majority vote may extend, reduce, approve, cancel, or deny a pool usage, as the poolevidence requires. G. A participating employee shall not be eligible to use sick leave days from the Officers desiring consideration for pool until all of the employee’s sick leave has been depleted. Sick Leave Pool. 10.1 The Committee and the Association agree to establish a Sick Leave Pool for the members of the bargaining unit which shall be administered by the Superintendent, or his/her designee, according to the following guidelines: A. A Each secretary may voluntarily become a member of this Sick Leave Pool for Secretaries. B. As requirement of membership in the Sick Leave Pool each participating member shall voluntarily donate one day per year from their own sick leave entitlement to the pool which shall be effective on the first day of school of a school year. After five (5) years of membership in the pool, members will no longer need to donate annually unless the pool of available days drop below 100. C. An individual shall not lose membership in the pool should that participating member be out for an extended period of time. D. Each sick leave pool shall be established for use by participating full-time employees. B. Participation in the sick leave pool shall be voluntary on the part member may receive a Sick Leave Pool benefit of each full-time employee. C. All full-time employees shall be eligible for participation in the sick leave pool after one (1) year of employment by the Okaloosa County School Board provided said employee has accumulated a minimum of twelve (12) days accrued sick leave. D. Any sick leave pooled pursuant to this Article shall be removed from the accumulated sick leave balance of the employee donating such leave and shall not be available to the donating employee as sick leave. E. Any sick leave time drawn from the pool by the participating employee must be used for the employee’s personal catastrophic illness, accident or injury. F. Each participating employee shall contribute one (1) day of sick leave in the first month of eligibility. No other sick leave contribution will be required, except that each participating employee shall be required to contribute an additional day of accrued sick leave if the sick leave pool balance has been reduced below one (1) day for each two (2) participating employees. In the event a member does not have any days at the time of request for an additional day, they shall contribute the next day they earn to the sick leave pool. 1. Employees shall be eligible to join the sick leave pool during the first twenty (20) school days of each school year. 2. The employee who cancels membership in the sick leave pool shall not be eligible to withdraw the days of sick leave the employee has contributed to the pool. G. A participating employee shall not be eligible to use sick leave days from the pool until all of the employee’s sick leave has been depleted. An employee so situated shall be eligible to use up to a maximum of sixty (60) daysten days in a school year. All requests for access to the Sick Leave Pool must be approved by the Association’s Officers before submitting the Sick Leave Pool request form to the Business Administrator. The Business Administrator will submit the Sick Leave Request to the Superintendent for approval, in 20-day incrementsboth the Superintendent and the Association Officers must approve the sick leave request. E. The existence of the Sick Leave Pool is a privilege rather than a convenience, therefore, days will be granted from the pool within Pool only in cases of serious injury or illness verified by a twelve-month period physician’s certificate which demonstrates a genuine disability and only for approved absences includes clarification of five continuous workdays what the patient can do or morecannot do in relation to assigned duties. Fill out this form providing all information requested and attach physician’s certificate which explains: (1) the nature of the illness and (2) the expected number of days requested to be out of work. b. Return the Sick Leave Pool Request Form and the physician’s certificate to the personnel office (Business Administrator) with a copy to the Methuen Educational Secretaries Association. A second medical certificate may be requested form a physician approved by the Association shall approve or disapprove all requests for withdrawal and shall formulate any additional administrative guidelines as it shall deem necessary. A doctor’s certificate may be required upon return from an absence of three or more days. The employee must notify his/her Supervisor on or before the first day of the absence informing the Supervisor as closely as possible when the employee expects to return to work. The employee is expected to keep his/her Supervisor informed during his/her absence as to the expected duration of such absence. If deemed to be in the best interest of the Superintendent or his/her designee, a physical examination of the employee may be required, such examination to be administered by a Committee selected physician and without charge to the employee. d. An employee shall not suffer any loss of sick leave accumulation during any period of absence from work due to any injury arising out of and in the course of the performance of assigned duties for a period of one calendar year from the date of said injury. It is understood that while there shall be no loss of sick leave accumulation during said period, there shall be no additional accumulation of said leave during said period.

If the sick leave pool during becomes depleted, all participating Faculty members shall contribute an additional 1-day of sick leave and have their personal sick leave accrual reduced by that amount. The pool shall be considered depleted when the first twenty (20) school total number of credits in the pool is 30 days or fewer. The pool shall not be replenished more than 2 times in any 12-month period. B. Utilization of each school yearPool 1. Use of sick leave pool credits is limited to the Faculty member's personal illness, accident, or injury. 2. The employee who cancels membership in the Faculty members must have been absent from scheduled duty days for a minimum of 20 duty days, and must have exhausted all accrued sick and vacation leave before being eligible to apply for sick leave pool shall not be eligible to withdraw the days of sick leave the employee has contributed to the poolcredits.
