Special Education Class Size. 8 The following class sizes are recommended guidelines to be considered, if 9 feasible, when making the unique student placement determinations 10 required for students placed in the following settings: 11 12 a. Basic Special Education Classes Staffed by 1.0 special education 13 teacher plus 5.5 hour aide: 15 b. Elementary - 25 students or 40 units* 16 17 c. Secondary - 35 students or 50 units* 18 19 d. Moderately handicapped - 10 students or 40 units* 20 21 e. Behaviorally Disadvantaged - 8 different students or 40 units* 22 23 f. School Psychologists – 135 students 24 25 g. Preschool – 25 students 26 27 h. Therapists – 50 students. 28 29 *A unit is one class period, if no such ―period‖ is designated for a 30 particular program, then it shall mean one 60 minute period. 31 32 5. Specialists: 34 a.
