The Exchange Teaching clause establishes the terms under which teachers from one institution or country temporarily teach at another institution, typically as part of a formal exchange program. This clause outlines the responsibilities, duration, and conditions for participating teachers, such as salary arrangements, housing, and teaching duties. Exchange Teaching. An employee on continuing or professional service contract may be granted a leave of absence for one year for the purpose of exchange teaching. Exchange teaching shall be limited to accredited public school systems, colleges and universities or similar institutions. The cooperating school system, college or university must furnish an employee to take the place of the employee released by the Board. The released employee shall draw full salary plus the value of any supplements performed by the cooperating employee. Application for exchange teaching for the next school year must be made by April 15.
Exchange Teaching. A one-year (1) leave of absence, with pay, may be granted to a teacher who qualifies for an exchange position.
Exchange Teaching. Leaves of absence may be granted to tenured members for exchange teaching in the manner prescribed by the Education Code, Sections 44853-55. On return from such leave, a faculty member shall be placed at the salary held by the faculty member at the time the leave commenced, except as provided in (2) below. 2. In the event there is in the judgment of the President of the College or the President’s designee a valid performance evaluation conducted by the host College, the substance of the evaluation shall be considered as evidence of performance qualifying the faculty member for possible award of a performance based award. 3. Each faculty member shall submit a certified statement from the appropriate academic administrator of the host college before the first (1st) semester of that faculty member's return describing in detail the exchange teaching responsibility and/or educational/cultural experience.

If the Teacher has completed five (5) or more consecutive years of service, the Teacher may, upon recommendation of the Superintendent and with the approval of the Board, be paid for the leave of absence for exchange teaching. Upon return to the School Corporation, persons who have been granted leaves of absence for exchange teaching in programs under the auspices of the United States government will be considered as if they were actively employed by the Board during the period of leave and will be placed in a vacant position for which he or she is qualified. A teacher may apply for exchange teaching assignment for a period not to exceed one (1) year in another state of the United States, another country, or a territory of either, following five (5) years of satisfactory service in the District, provided said teacher states his or her intent to return to the District for a minimum of one (1) year. B. Exchange leave with pay may be granted by the Board on recommendation of the Superintendent. C. A teacher being granted an exchange teaching leave of absence shall advance on the salary schedule as he or she would have advanced had he or she been employed in the District. D. Requests for a leave of absence for exchange teaching assignments shall be made by the end of the first semester for leave beginning the following September.

The exchange includes one (1) contract year, or the remainder of one (1) contract year, and does 32 not include parts or portions of two (2) contract years. 34 2. Exchange Teaching. All leaves for exchange teaching shall be granted at the discretion of the board. Any employee desiring a leave for the purpose of teaching in another district shall file a written application with his principal at least 90 days prior to the first day of the requested leave. Such application shall be in writing and shall explain in detail the length of the desired leave, the purpose of the desired leave and the applicant's reasons why said leave will be of benefit to the district. The superintendent shall present said request to the board at its next regular or special meeting together with his recommendation for the board's consideration. No exchange teaching leave shall be granted for a period longer than provided by law. The employee receiving such a leave shall be entitled to all of the rights and privileges of employment he would have received had he performed his regularly contracted functions during the period of such leave. No such leave shall be granted unless and until the question as to which district shall pay the salary of such teacher and other employment obligations have been resolved in a written agreement between the districts concerned.
Exchange Teaching. The Board of Education may grant a teacher who has served in the district for at least five (5) consecutive years a one (1) year leave of absence with pay to teach in a foreign country, provided such country agrees to furnish a teacher of like rank or school level to fulfill the duties of the teacher who is on leave. Such leave does not affect the retirement rights or any other teacher rights granted by the district for the period of service or leave.
