Stronger Communities. The Safer and Strong Communities theme has made excellent progress. This positive progress was acknowledged by the Audit Commission inspectors in their report on the Safer Lambeth Partnership in December 2007 which concluded a good service was being delivered with promising prospects for improvement. Performance is measured against 41 indicators out of 43. Overall, 54% of the theme indicators achieved or exceeded the first year target and 2 indicators have been rated high risk. Two of the theme indicators were identified as cross-cutting and reported in other theme outcomes. These are therefore excluded from this calculation. Overall 21 of SSC theme performance indicators improved compared to the baseline year. Progress has been slower in the Economic Development and Enterprise theme. The EDE theme Performance is measured against 28 indicators out of 29. One indicator (EDE17) was identified as a duplicate. Overall, 47% of the theme indicators achieved the first year target and 13 indicators showed an improvement with only three indicators deteriorating against the baseline year. There are data collection issues around reporting education qualification borough-wide. The six indicators without data have therefore been rated high risk. The following three indicators performing below target are:- HCOP18 - The number of older and disabled individuals, and their carers, assisted in successfully claiming new or increased levels of benefit(s), as a result of benefit take up campaigns has been risk rated ‘Amber’ by the department.
