Substantial Completion Walk-Through Clause Samples

The Substantial Completion Walk-Through clause establishes the process by which the parties jointly inspect the project to determine if it has reached substantial completion. During this walk-through, the owner and contractor review the work to identify any remaining items that need to be finished or corrected, often resulting in a punch list of outstanding tasks. This clause ensures that both parties agree on the project's readiness for occupancy or use, clarifies responsibilities for final completion, and helps prevent disputes over the project's status at the end of construction.
Substantial Completion Walk-Through. Together with the State Engineer or State Engineer’s Representative, visit the site to observe any apparent defects in the work. Prepare a punch list of defective items and, at all times, withhold no less than twice the value of the punch list items when reviewing payments. Assist the State Engineer in consultations and discussions with the Contractor concerning correction of any such defects, and make recommendations as to the replacement or correction of defective work, if present.
Substantial Completion Walk-Through. Upon substantial completion, ENGINEER will inspect the construction work, in the company of AWU staff and Contractor. ENGINEER will prepare a punch-list of those items to be completed or corrected before final completion of the project. Submit results of the inspection to AWU Project Manager. It is assumed that the ENGINEER will have a representative for each engineering design discipline, six (6) total, perform an initial punch-list inspection upon notification of substantial completion. It is assumed that the walk-through will last two (2) hours. Deliverables: Punch-list
