Common use of Substitution Pay Clause in Contracts

Substitution Pay. (a) When an employee temporarily substitutes in, or performs the principal duties of a higher paying position, he/she shall receive the rate for the job. (b) Substitution to a higher paying position shall be offered to the most senior qualified employee in a lower paying classification.

Substitution Pay. ‌ (ai) When an employee temporarily substitutes in, or performs appointed by the principal Employer to perform the full duties of a higher paying position, he/she paid position employees shall receive the rate for higher rated pay of the jobposition to which the employee has been temporarily assigned. (bii) Where the duties of the position are shared, the combined substitution pay shall not be greater than the cost of one person substituting. (iii) Substitution pay is not payable when an employee has not been designated by the Employer to a higher paying position shall substitute. Approval to substitute may be offered to the most senior qualified employee in a lower paying classificationgranted retroactively where appropriate.
