Temporary Full-Time Appointments. Where there is a temporary need for a full-time faculty member, a temporary (or contract) appointment may be made, in accordance with the procedures set forth in paragraph 3.01 of this Agreement, for a period not to exceed one year. There shall not be more than thirty-five (35) temporary (or contract) full-time faculty members during any semester. The parties shall seek to avoid the over concentration of temporary (or contract) full-time faculty in any department. A temporary (or contract) appointment may be renewed no more than three times; provided, however, that upon a recommendation by the Department Personnel and Budget Committee, an exception beyond three (3) renewals can be made. The number of renewals may not exceed five (5) for a total of six (6) years of full-time employment. If any faculty member, initially hired as a temporary (or contract) appointment, applies for a tenure-track position, the period of the temporary (or contract) appointment (and any renewals thereof) shall not be counted toward the evaluation period for tenure set forth in Article 9 of the University Statutes. The normal teaching load for temporary (or contract) full-time faculty members is 12 credits per semester.
Temporary Full-Time Appointments. The College may appoint interim replacements to fill temporary vacancies among full- time faculty. The appointment may include committee and other service assignments as appropriate for the needs of the department and the experience of the appointee, and will be arranged within the first quarter of employment in the position. No more than three years of contracts will be issued for the same position. In the event that the College issues more than three consecutive years of contracts for a position, the Employer will convert the position to a probationary, tenure-track position, to which the current appointee may apply. The College will inform the Federation of all temporary full-time contracts.

Temporary Full-Time Appointments. Where the work has been continuously performed by more than one (1) temporary full-time employee and the work exceeds twenty-four (24) consecutive months (and is not the result of the absence of a regular full-time incumbent), then a regular full-time position will normally be posted within three (3) months. This clause will not apply if the temporary full-time work is paid through a grant/trust fund. Temporary full-time employees who have been employed for greater than nine (9) months and who are subsequently appointed as a regular full-time employee and who are performing the same job duties as a regular full-time employee and for the same department at the same salary band, will be deemed to have completed their probationary period.

Temporary Full-Time Appointments. (i) Where there is a temporary need for a full-time faculty member, a temporary appointment may be made, in accordance with the procedures set forth in paragraph 3.01 of this Agreement, for a period not to exceed one year. (ii) Temporary Full-Time faculty members shall be permitted to teach courses that comprise (1) the University’s “common core” curriculum, and (2) the University’s “distributed core” curriculum, except social science courses. With respect to courses in the “distributed core” curriculum, the parties will seek to avoid over-concentration of temporary full-time faculty in any department. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary herein, Temporary Full-Time faculty members may teach any course within the University (including without limitation courses outside the common and distributed cores) with the prior consent of the AAUP-FA. (iii) There shall not be more than fifty (50) temporary full-time faculty members teaching pursuant to this Section during any semester. (iv) A temporary appointment may be renewed no more than six times. Renewals for temporary faculty members shall be made in accordance with the reappointment procedures for probationary faculty members as set forth in paragraphs 8.03 and 8.04 of the University Statutes. If any faculty member, initially hired as a temporary appointment, is later hired for a tenure-track position, the period of the temporary appointment (and any renewals thereof) shall not be counted toward the evaluation period for tenure set forth in Article 9 of the University Statutes. (v) The normal teaching load for temporary full-time faculty members is 12 credits per semester. (vi) Temporary full-time faculty members shall be ineligible to participate on any statutory faculty committee, including faculty councils.

  • Temporary Appointments Where operational requirements make it necessary, the Employer may make temporary appointments pending the posting and consideration of Union personnel pursuant to 16.01 above.

  • Term Appointments 1.02.1 A term appointment is one in which the beginning and end dates of employment are clearly identified in the appointment letter. 1.02.2 It is agreed that employees employed on term appointments (hereinafter referred to as term employees) are covered by the terms of this Collective Agreement except for those Articles and conditions set out below: a) It is agreed that there is no guarantee or commitment of employment to an employee beyond that which is identified in their appointment letter. b) Term appointments normally are from 3 months to 1 year in length, though such an appointment may be for a longer period under special circumstances such as, Long Term Disability, Family Leave or Leave of Absence. c) Prior to hiring or renewing an employee on a term appointment, Human Resources staff will evaluate a job description submitted by the Department Head/Designate and determine the appropriate salary range and hiring salary in accordance with the Salary Administration provision of this Agreement. If the original appointment letter indicates a period of employment of more than 12 months, or if the employee's actual period of employment in the same position exceeds 12 months, the position description will be submitted for evaluation by the Joint Technical Position Evaluation Committee at the beginning of the thirteenth month of employment. If this evaluation results in a salary increase, the increase shall be made effective to the beginning of the thirteenth month of employment. d) Notwithstanding Article 21.01, term appointments of 3 to 6 months duration will not normally be posted; however, written notice will be sent to the Union. e) For the purposes of seniority, term employees will not be considered as new employees if they are rehired within 6 months of a previous termination. f) Notwithstanding Article 17 (Sick Leave), term employees shall be entitled to accumulate paid sick leave determined at the rate of 2 days per calendar month of their appointment to a maximum of 60 days. g) Notwithstanding Article 12 (Layoff and Recall), in the event of a layoff the University will provide as much advance notice as possible to term employees. However, term employees shall not be entitled to recall rights. h) Term employees shall not be covered by the following articles or clauses of the Collective Agreement: Article 12, Article 17.01, Article 17.02, Article 21.05. i) Term employees whose employment has been renewed beyond the original term appointment, and whose appointment will not be renewed again, will be given a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice or notice pursuant to the Employment Standards Act, whichever is greater, confirming the end date stated in their subsequent appointment letter. j) Term employees who are laid off are entitled to severance pay in accordance with Appendix B, Chart B.

  • SUPPLIER'S APPOINTMENT The Authority hereby appoints the Supplier as a potential provider of the Services and the Supplier shall be eligible to be considered for the award of Orders for such Services by the Authority and Other Contracting Bodies during the Term and in consideration of the Supplier agreeing to enter into this Framework Agreement and to perform its obligations under it the Authority agrees to pay and the Supplier agrees to accept on the signing of this Framework Agreement the sum of one (£1.00) pound sterling (receipt of which is hereby acknowledged by the Supplier).

  • Initial Appointments The Company appoints the Trustee as the initial Paying Agent, the initial Registrar and the initial Conversion Agent.

  • Continuing Appointment A continuing appointment shall continue until retirement or until otherwise terminated pursuant to this Agreement.
