Common use of Temporary Nurses Clause in Contracts

Temporary Nurses. i) A temporary Nurse may be hired for a specific term not to exceed eighteen (18) months, or to replace a Nurse who will be on an approved leave of absence, absence due to workplace injury, long-term disability, or to perform a special non-recurring task or project. ii) The specific term may be extended up to an additional maximum of eighteen (18) months mutual written agreement of the Union, Nurse, and the Employer. iii) The release of a temporary Nurse during or at the conclusion of the term shall not be considered a layoff nor shall it be the subject of a grievance or arbitration. A permanent Nurse who holds a temporary position shall revert to the position held immediately preceding the nurse’s selection for the limited position upon completion of the limited position, if the positions still exists.
