Common use of Three Shift Operation Clause in Contracts

Three Shift Operation. (1) On a three (3)-shift operation, the first shift of eight (8) hours (exclusive of meal period) shall start between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., and eight (8) hours work shall constitute the first shift for which eight (8) hours shall be paid. (2) The second shift shall consist of seven and one-half (7½) hours (exclusive of meal period) for which (8) hours at the straight time rate shall be paid. (3) The third shift shall be seven (7) hours (exclusive of meal period) for which eight (8) hours at the straight time rate shall be paid. Thirty-five (35) hours shall constitute a week's work on the third shift, and the third shift shall be considered as a part of the same day on which the first shift started.
