Common use of TRADING TIME Clause in Contracts

TRADING TIME. Subject to authorization of the Fire Chief, Fire Battalion Chiefs may trade time with other employees of equal position. Trading time shall be agreeable with both parties and shall be requested in a memorandum signed by both employees requesting the trade.

Supervisors establish the employees’ schedules to meet the needs of the Department and shall therefore shift trading is exclusively for the employees’ convenience. Both employees who shift trade will be requested paid their regular wages for the workweek in which the shift trade occurred. The employee working the extra shift will receive no overtime compensation for doing so and the employee whose shift worked by another employee will not forfeit any compensation as a memorandum signed by both employees requesting result of the trade.
