Transfer or Reassignments. 1. Teachers desiring a transfer will submit a written request to the Superintendent stating the assignment preferred including grade or subject. Such request should be submitted between September 1 and April 1. The Superintendent will post anticipated openings in- house for the following school year as soon as practicable. The Superintendent will make a decision regarding transfer requests prior to the outside posting of vacancies. The Superintendent will provide written notification of the Superintendent’s decision to the teachers requesting a transfer. A request for transfer will expire on June 30. Nothing in this section will prevent a teacher from applying and being considered for the position posted at other times, under the terms of this Article and Articles 28, 29 and 30 of this agreement. 2. The Association, Unit A, acknowledges the right of the School Committee to transfer. In cases of involuntary transfer, the teacher involved will at the teacher’s request be entitled to meet with the Superintendent to discuss the implications of the transfer and the teacher’s preference in that regard. Such transfers shall be made only for the good of the school system and shall not be made for arbitrary, capricious, or punitive reasons. Teachers being involuntarily transferred shall be placed before requests for voluntary transfers are granted. 3.
