Common use of Union Stewards Clause in Contracts

Union Stewards. (a) The Hospital agrees to recognize Union stewards to be elected or appointed from amongst employees in the bargaining unit who have completed their probationary period for the purpose of dealing with Union business as provided under this Collective Agreement. (b) A Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ or designate may, in the absence of any ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, assist in the presentation of any grievance, or with any ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ function. (c) The Union shall keep the Hospital notified in writing of the names of Union stewards appointed or selected under this Article as well as the effective date of their respective appointments. (b) A One of the two (2) recognized Union Stewards in ARTICLE 8.01 (a) may be appointed or elected Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. The Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ or designate may, in the absence of any ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, may assist in the presentation of any grievance, grievance or with any ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ functionfunction as required under the Agreement. (c) The Union shall keep the Hospital Employer notified in writing of the names of Union stewards appointed or selected under this Article as well as the effective date of their respective appointments. (d) It is agreed that Union stewards have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Hospital and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor. If, in the performance of his duties, No employee will be recognized as a Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ is required to enter an area within until the Hospital Union advises the Employer in which he is not originally employed, he shall report his presence to writing of the supervisor in name(s) of the area immediately upon entering it. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. When resuming his regular duties and responsibilities, such employee(s) designated as ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall again report to his immediate supervisor. ▇(s). (d) A Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall suffer no loss of earnings be paid their regular or premium rate for time spent attending grievance, disciplinary and orientation meetings with the employer in performing the above duties during his her regular scheduled working hours. This provision does not apply to attendance at arbitrations or other proceedings. Every effort shall be made by the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇(s) to schedule the performance of her duties under paragraphs (a) and (b) above at times which do not conflict with her work schedule or with the work schedule of any other employee in the bargaining unit. If the performance of the duties in paragraphs (a) and (b) above necessitates the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇(s) requiring absence from a scheduled work assignment, the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇(s) must provide her immediate supervisor with reasonable notice and must obtain the permission of her supervisor before leaving her work to perform her duties as a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇. (e) Nothing in this Article shall preclude full-time stewards from representing part-time employees and vice-versa. (f) The number of stewards and the areas which they represent, are to be determined locally.

Union Stewards. (a) The Hospital Employer agrees to recognize Union two (2) stewards to who shall be elected or appointed from amongst employees in the bargaining unit who have completed their probationary period period. The function of these stewards shall be to assist employees in their respective areas in the processing of any grievance which may properly arise under the provisions of this Agreement. The Union will notify the Employer of the names of the stewards in writing before the Employer shall be required to recognize the same. Employees shall have the right to the assistance of an OPSEU Staff Representative whenever required for the purpose of dealing assisting with complaints, grievances, investigations, Labour/ Management meetings, Health and Safety Committee meetings, and Negotiations. The exercise of this right shall not interfere with the Employer’s operations. The Union business recognizes and agrees that the stewards have their regular duties to perform in connection with their employment and that only such time as provided under this Collective Agreement. (b) A Chief is necessary will be taken by the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ or designate may, in during working hours. The ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall obtain the absence permission of any the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, ’▇ supervisor before leaving work to assist any employee in investigating or presenting the presentation of any employee’s grievance, or with any ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ function. (a) The Hospital Employer agrees to recognize a maximum of one (1) Union stewards ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ per work location, to be elected or appointed from amongst employees Employees in the bargaining unit who have completed their probationary period for the purpose of dealing with Union business as provided under this Collective Agreement. . The Union shall keep the Employer notified, in writing, of the names of Union Stewards appointed, selected, or removed under this Article as well as the effective date of their respective appointments or removal. The Employer shall not be required to recognize any Employee(s) appointed or selected as a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ until the Employer has been notified, in writing, of the name(s) of the ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇(bs) so appointed or selected. It is agreed that Union Stewards have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Employer and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor or designate. If, in the performance of his duties, a Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ is required to enter a work location in which he is not normally employed, he shall report his/her presence to the supervisor or designate in the work location immediately upon entering it. Permission to enter such work location shall not be unreasonably withheld. When resuming his regular duties and responsibilities, such ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall again report to his immediate supervisor or designate. A Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall suffer no loss of earnings for reasonable time spent in performing the above duties during his regular scheduled working hours. If, in the performance of his duties, a Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ is required to enter an area within the Hospital in which he is not originally employed, he shall report his presence to the supervisor in the area immediately upon entering it. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. When resuming his regular duties and responsibilities, such ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall again report to his immediate supervisor. In addition, the Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ will be granted eight (e8) hours of paid time off in every four (4) Nothing week period, to perform Union business. Such paid time for Union matters shall be in addition to such other time devoted to Union matters as provided elsewhere in this Article shall preclude full-time stewards from representing part-time Agreement. Where Union business requires the staff to travel between the different sites, the will either provide transportation or reimburse employees and vice-versaaccording the transportation allowance provision. Should, in the course of performing Union business, a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ requires a private space to conduct a meeting with an employee or employees, one will be so provided upon request, providing space is available at the time. The Hospital acknowledges the right of the Union to appoint or otherwise select four (4) Stewards, one from each of the following Departments : Nursing, Dietary, Housekeeping and plus a Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, to assist employees in their grievances to the Representatives of the Hospital, The zone within which each ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ is to function shall be to the Department in which he is employed with the exception of the Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, Should a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ be obliged to enter another Department on Union business, he will not enter until he has obtained the permission of the Department Head.

It is agreed that Union stewards have their regular duties and responsibilities to perform for the Hospital and shall not leave their regular duties without first obtaining permission from their immediate supervisor. If, in the performance of his duties, a Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ is required to enter an area within the Hospital in which he is not originally employed, he shall report his presence to the supervisor in the area immediately upon entering it. Such permission shall not be unreasonably withheld. withheld When resuming his regular duties and responsibilities, such ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall again report to his immediate supervisor. A Union ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ shall suffer no loss of earnings for time spent in performing the above duties during his regular scheduled working hours. (e) . Nothing in this Article shall preclude full-time stewards from representing part-time employees and vice-vice versa. (f) . The number of stewards and the areas which they representrepre- sent, are to be determined locally. The Hospital agrees to recognize eight ( 8 ) full-time stewards including the Chief ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇.
