Common use of Use of Bereavement Leave Clause in Contracts

Use of Bereavement Leave. 1. Bereavement Leave may be used only with the permission of the Health Director. Bereavement leave may not be unreasonably denied. 2. Permission to use Bereavement Leave must be secured before the Bereavement Leave is paid. 3. The length of ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Leave shall be at the discretion of the Health Director, but will be consistent for all employees in like situations. The factors to be considered for the length of leave will depend on the relationship of the employee to the deceased and the geographical location of the funeral. Funeral locations in excess of 200 miles from the employee’s home will be accommodated with an additional two (2) days for travel. 4. Bereavement leave may be used for either or both the incidence of death of a qualifying relative and the funeral itself. The Health Director may authorize additional unpaid days off if the situation warrants.
