The Vacant Routes clause defines the procedures and responsibilities when a transportation route becomes unassigned or unoccupied, typically due to a carrier's withdrawal or inability to service the route. In practice, this clause may specify how the route is to be reassigned, the notification requirements for affected parties, and any interim measures to ensure continuity of service. Its core function is to ensure that disruptions are minimized and that there is a clear process for reallocating routes, thereby maintaining operational efficiency and service reliability.
Vacant Routes. Routes of employees on long term leave (more than 6 calendar 30 weeks) route will be bid as vacant. When the employee returns to work, they will 31 be an UAR until they bid on another available route.

If the vacant route is not taken by an Owner Operator or Employee in that dedicated specific account the vacant route will be offered to Owner Operators and Employees outside of that dedicated specific account but within the classification and filled by the senior qualified Owner Operator or Employee utilizing classification seniority. If the vacant route is not taken by an Owner Operator or Employee within the classification, the vacant route will be offered to Owner Operators and Employees outside of that classification and filled by the senior qualified Owner Operator or Employee utilizing company seniority.
