Work Day and Year. 8.1 The work year for Category #2 and #3 except the secretary/receptionist position employees shall be no more than 185 days and no less than 180 days. Required non-school work days shall be within one week of the beginning or end of the school year. The secretary/receptionist position may be required to work an additional twenty (20) days in the summer. In the event of a cancelled school day which is not made up by the District, or in the event of unanticipated early release or delayed opening, the employees shall suffer no loss in pay. On scheduled early release days, employees shall suffer not loss in pay from their regular work day. On these early release days, the District will schedule professional development and/or allow employees to perform work related tasks such as billing and other documentation which is necessary for their job assignment. 8.2 No employee or position shall have hours reduced for the purpose of making that employee or position ineligible for benefits. 8.3 The current practice regarding lunch and breaks shall remain in effect. Duties shall be assigned on an equitable and fair basis in terms of number and nature of assignments. 8.4 All employees shall be granted the following holidays, to be taken on the day observed by the District, with pay. (Appendix B) Specific assignment means the grade level, child (for 1:1’s), and case manager. All employees will have their supervisor designated by the employer within their individual contracts upon the issuance of the contracts. The District shall have the right to change the specific assignment after June 1st if necessary to meet the District’s unanticipated or unforeseeable needs and the unanticipated or unforeseeable needs of its students. Directors shall use any vacation days allotted for the 2019-2020 school year by August 31, 2020. Directors employed by the District in the 2019-2020 school year will be awarded their 22 vacation days for the school year 2019-2020 on July 1, 2020. Directors will be paid for up to thirty-seven (37) of their unused vacation days in the pay period immediately following September 1, 2020. 5.07 If it is necessary in the judgment of a bargaining unit member to work any days that are in addition to that member’s normal work year, whether during a vacation or other non-work days, in order to complete professional responsibilities; and that member receives authorization by the member’s immediate supervisor to work the additionally day(s); then the bargaining unit member who works any additional days shall receive additional compensation for each day at the per-diem rate of that member. 5.08 Unit members shall attend meetings or other on-site requirements before 7:00 A.M. and after 4:00 P.M. only at the election of the unit member. Such meetings or other on-site requirements shall not be mandatory, and shall not be scheduled without the prior uncoerced agreement of the unit member. 5.09 If school is canceled before school staff report to work, unit members will not be required to report to work. If the regular pay date falls on the day of a holiday or vacation, employees shall receive their pay checks on the last day that school is in session. 13-2 Teachers will be given their tentative assignments by July 30th of each school year. An employee may request to work a Full Day Professional Development day that is outside of their work year in lieu of the day before Thanksgiving.

(a) A summer schedule of four (4) ten (10) hour days may be permitted at the discretion of the Superintendent or his Designee and with written notice to the Association. 8.2 For the Custodial and Maintenance calendar year Employees, the typical work day shall be eight (8) hours per day. The actual hours of work for each Employee shall be set forth in the annual letter of appointment. Shift assignments shall not be changed from year to year or without posting.
