Common use of Work in Advance of Shift Clause in Contracts

Work in Advance of Shift. When a nurse is required to report for work in advance of the assigned shift and continues working during the scheduled shift, all hours worked prior to the scheduled shift shall be paid at time and one-half (1 1/2) the straight time rate of pay. A nurse who reports to work in advance of the assigned shift will not be released from duty prior to the completion of that scheduled shift for the purpose of avoiding overtime pay unless there is mutual consent. This section shall not apply to those departments (GI Lab, Cardiac Rehab, Electrophysiology, Outpatient Oncology, Same-Day Surgery Gig Harbor and Tacoma) in which there are currently variable start times.
