Additional Deduction. 4.2.1 The University will establish a process to deduct from the pay of those bargaining unit members who authorize in writing that such a deduction be made, a payroll deduction to APEA/AFT for contributions or benefits pursuant to a voluntary agreement between an individual bargaining unit member and APEA/AFT. 4.2.2 The authorization shall be made on a form provided by the University to APEA/AFT, shall be provided to the bargaining unit member by APEA/AFT, shall be submitted by the bargaining unit member to APEA/AFT and shall be transmitted by APEA/AFT, sorted by MAU, to the University Labor and Employee Relations office in Fairbanks not more often than every two weeks. 4.2.3 The aggregate deduction from all bargaining unit members for each payroll period shall be remitted to APEA/AFT within 15 working days following the deduction, with a listing of the bargaining unit members' names and the amount deducted. The deduction authorization shall terminate if revoked by the bargaining unit member by giving written notice to the treasurer of APEA/AFT or to the University. 4.2.4 Subject to the provisions of Article 4.2.3, the University may honor a deduction authorization signed during a prior period of employment. The University reserves the right to limit the number of times a bargaining unit member may initiate, change or revoke a deduction during a term of employment. 4.2.5 The University shall have no obligation to United Academic–Adjuncts APEA/AFT or bargaining unit members under this article other than to use ordinary care to remit any amount actually collected to the APEA/AFT Treasurer at the address provided by the APEA/AFT. Where the University fails to deduct or remits to APEA/AFT more or less than an amount due from a bargaining unit member, any adjustment shall be the sole responsibility of APEA/AFT and the bargaining unit member. 4.2.6 United Academic-Adjuncts/APEA/AFT shall indemnify and hold the University harmless against any and all claims, demands, suits, grievances, or other liabilities that arise by actions taken by either party pursuant to this Article.
Additional Deduction. The Employer shall deduct on a monthly basis $0.01 per hour from the wages of all members of the Bargaining Unit and remit that amount to Union Aid, CUPE’s Global Justice Fund, on a quarterly basis. The Employer shall include with the remittance the number of employees for whom contributions have been made. Any employee may donate more than $0.01 per hour on request. It is understood that participation in this program of deductions by any employee in the Bargaining Unit, may be discontinued after the receipt by the Employer and the Union of that employee’s written statement of desire to discontinue participation. Cuso International will encourage excluded employees and management to contribute to Union Aid, CUPE’s Global Justice Fund, on the same basis as Bargaining Unit employees.

  • Dues Deduction 1. The DTU will indemnify, defend, and hold the employer harmless against any claim made and against any suit instituted against the Employer on account of any check-off of union dues. 2. Upon receipt of a written authorization from an employee covered by this agreement, the Employer will deduct from the employee's pay the amount owed to the DTU by such employee for dues and its assessments. 3. It is understood that this provision will provide for 22 or 26 deductions per year for all covered employees as outlined in Appendix D. The Employer will remit to the DTU such sums as deductions are made to be implemented when the ACH system is functioning. There will be a one month trial transfer period. An electronic copy of the deduction will be provided to the DTU within five working days. Changes in the DTU membership dues rate will be certified to the Employer in writing over the signature of the authorized officer or officers of the DTU and shall be done at least 30 days in advance of the effective date of such change. The Employer's remittance will be deemed correct if the DTU does not give written notice to the Employer within thirty (30) calendar days after a remittance is received of its belief, with reason(s) stated therefore, that the remittance is incorrect. 4. No deduction of dues shall be made from the pay of any employee for any payroll period in which the employee's net earnings for that payroll period, after deductions, are less than the amount of dues to be checked off. 5. An employee may at any time revoke, in writing her/his authorization for dues deductions. Written requests received by the 20th day of the month will be effective no earlier than the first payday and no later than the second payday of the following month. 6. Any employee who has payroll deductions to DTU for membership dues at the time of any unpaid leave shall have such dues deductions reinstated when she/he returns from leave, unless canceled by the employee in writing.

  • Termination of Deduction The University's responsibility for deducting dues and other authorized deductions from an employee's salary shall terminate automatically upon either (a) thirty (30) days written notice from the employee to the University, and to the UFF revoking that employee's prior deduction authorization, or (b) the transfer of the authorizing employee out of the bargaining unit.

  • PROFESSIONAL DUES OR FEES AND PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS 5.1 Any unit member who is a member of the Association, or who has applied for membership, may sign and deliver to the District an assignment authorizing deduction of unified membership dues, initiation fees, and general assessments of the Association. Pursuant to such authorization, the District shall deduct one-tenth of such dues from the regular salary check of the bargaining unit member each month for ten (10) months. Deductions for bargaining unit members who sign such authorization after the commencement of the school year shall be appropriately pro-rated to complete payments by the end of the school year. 5.2 Any unit member who is not a member of the Association, or who does not make application for membership within thirty (30) days of the effective date of this Agreement, or within thirty (30) days from the date of commencement of assigned duties, shall become a member of the Association or pay to the Association a fee in an amount equal to unified membership dues, initiation fees and general 5.3 Any unit member who is a member of a religious body whose traditional tenets or teaching include objections to joining or financially supporting employee organizations shall not be required to join or financially support the Association, as a condition of employment, except that such unit member shall pay, in lieu of a service fee, sums equal to such service fee to one of the following non-religious, non- labor organizations, charitable funds exempt from taxation under section 501 (c) (3) of Title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code. (For example: Murrieta Fire Protection District) 5.3.1 Proof of payment and a written statement of objection, along with verifiable evidence of membership in a religious body whose traditional tenets or teachings object to joining or financially supporting employee organizations, pursuant to section 5.3 above, shall be made on an annual basis to the District as a condition of continued exemption from the provisions of sections 5.1 and 5.2 of this Article. Evidence shall be in the form of receipts and/or canceled checks indicating the amount paid, date of payment, and to whom payment in lieu of the service fee has been made. Such proof shall be presented on or before November 1 of each school year. The Association shall have the right of inspection in order to review said proof of payment. 5.3.2 Any unit member making payments as set forth in sections 5.3 and 5.3.1, above, and who requests that the grievance or arbitration provisions of this Agreement be used on his or her behalf, shall be responsible for paying the reasonable cost of using said grievance or arbitration procedures. 5.4 With respect to all sums deducted by the District pursuant to sections 5.1 and 5.2 above, whether for membership dues or agency fee, the District agrees to promptly remit such monies to the Association, accompanied by an alphabetical list of bargaining unit members for whom such deductions have been made, categorizing them as to membership or non-membership in the Association, and indicating any changes in personnel from the list previously furnished. The Association agrees to furnish any information needed by the District to fulfill the provisions of this Article.

  • Union Dues Deduction The Employer agrees to deduct and forward to the Financial Secretary of the Local Union, upon receipt of a voluntary written authorization, the working dues from the pay of each IBEW member. The amount to be deducted shall be the amount specified in the approved Local Union Bylaws. The Local Union, upon request by the Employer, shall certify such amount to the Employer.

  • Dues Deductions Dues deductions, once initiated, shall continue until the authorization is revoked in writing by the employee. For the administrative convenience of the City and the Union, an employee may only revoke a dues authorization by delivering the notice of revocation to the Controller during the two-week period prior to the expiration of this Agreement.
