Alternative Evaluation Options. The certificated employee should select an alternative evaluation option that will be in close alignment with his/her goals. The alternative evaluation options listed below are self-evaluations, peer evaluations, and projects.
12.8.3.1 Individual Growth Activities: Individual growth activities are designed to improve the employee’s performance through the use of selected professional growth activities combined with self-analysis techniques. Examples of activities in this category include, but are not limited to: • Videotaping a classroom lesson with self-analysis • Portfolio assessments • Self-gathering of classroom evidence for reflection • Student and parent feedback • Teacher created projects
Alternative Evaluation Options. In lieu of the procedures outlined in 12. 3. 6.1 , a Permanent unit member with at least 8 years of service in the district and three (3) annual evaluation, as a permanent employee, with all areas “Meeting Standards”, may participate in one of the Alternative Evaluation Options. A permanent unit members and evaluating administrator must mutually agree on an alternative evaluation option by the thirtieth (30th) day of instruction. If there is not mutual agreement, the member will be evaluated using the traditional system. All participating members shall complete the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTP) Continuum and conference with the evaluating administration by the thirtieth (30th) day of instruction to discuss their self-evaluation on all six (6) CSTP’s.

The District and the Association agree that an increased level of collaboration contributes to the professional growth of each employee. Examples of Education Team Growth Activities are: • Cognitive Coaching • Videotaped Lessons - (with a peer reviewer) • Inter-Intra Disciplinary Grade Level Teams • Peer Classroom Visitations • Collaborative Teaching and Presentation to Staff • Teacher Team Created Projects

III. Educational Research The teacher may outline an instructional strategy or learning theory to be researched and implemented in the classroom. The design of the research and method of evaluation shall be included in the project. This may be completed in conjunction with graduate coursework or a District curriculum project.
