Common use of Classification and Salary Adjustments Clause in Contracts

Classification and Salary Adjustments. (a) When a new or substantially altered classification covered by this agreement is introduced, the rate of pay and effective date shall be subject to negotiations between the Union and the Employer. (b) If the parties are unable to agree on the rate of pay for the new or substantially altered classification, within 10 days of their first meeting or other such period agreed to by the parties, the Employer may implement the classification and attach a salary. (c) The Union may then refer the matter, within 21 calendar days, to expedited arbitration pursuant to Article 9. The Arbitrator shall determine the rate of pay and effective date.
