Common use of Compensation for Overtime Work Clause in Contracts

Compensation for Overtime Work. Time and one-half (1 ½) will be compensated for over eight (8) hours per day within a twenty-four (24) hour period commencing with the employee’s first regular scheduled shift based on the schedule at the beginning of the shift change period. Employees shall be compensated for authorized overtime by payment at time and one-half (1 ½) unless mutually agreed by the Sheriff and employee to take compensatory time in lieu of overtime payment at time and one-half (1 ½). Only such hours as worked in excess of forty (40) hours of work per week as set forth herein shall be so compensated.

Employees Sergeants shall be compensated for authorized overtime by time off equal to time and one-half (1 ½) to time worked, or by payment at time and one-half (1 ½) unless mutually agreed as determined by the Sheriff and employee to take compensatory time in lieu of overtime payment at time approved by the Personnel and one-half (1 ½)Finance Committee. Only such hours as worked in excess of forty (40) hours of work per week as set forth herein shall be so compensated.
