Convertible Time For Part-time Employees Sample Clauses

Convertible Time For Part-time Employees. In consideration of the fact that part-time employees do not earn vacation time, commencing July 1, 2019, an amount equal to forty percent (40%) of the amount of sick leave earned by a part-time employee (while serving as a part-time employee) will be added to an employee-specific running total of the amount of sick leave the employee may use as vacation (convertible time). Once the total convertible time reaches one hundred sixty (160) hours, no percentage of sick leave earned by the part-time employee will be added to the convertible time total. A part-time employee must have the time available in both his sick leave balance and convertible time running total in order to be eligible to request, and be approved to convert sick time to vacation. No sick leave earned by a part-time employee will be considered vacation until applied for and used as such. Once a part-time employee has used convertible time as vacation, the amount of time used will be deducted from both the sick leave and convertible time balances for the employee. The process to be used for the application and approval to convert sick time to vacation for part- time employees is the same as the application and approval process for use of vacation time by full-time twelve (12) month employees, although different forms may be developed for the convertible time process.
