Date of Response. If the grievance is not resolved at Step 1, the aggrieved employee may submit a written appeal to the Labor Relations Office within fifteen (15) calendar days after receipt of the Fire Chief's or his designee's written answer. If appropriate to file the initial grievance at Step 2, the aggrieved employee may submit a written appeal to the Labor Relations Office within fifteen (15) calendar days after the occurrence of the matter from which the grievance arose. The Labor Relations Manager or his designee shall meet with the aggrieved employee, Department Management, and Union representatives within fifteen (15) calendar days of receipt of the written appeal to discuss and seek a resolution of the grievance. Within fifteen (15) calendar days after this meeting, the Labor Relations Manager or his designee shall give his written recommendation to the grievant, the Union representative, if applicable, and the Fire Chief or his designee.

  • Employee Response The employee upon whom a Notice of Proposed Action has been served shall have seven (7) calendar days to respond to the appointing authority either orally or in writing before the proposed action may be taken. Upon request of the employee and for good cause, the appointing authority may extend in writing the period to respond. If the employee's response is not filed within seven (7) days or during an extension, the right to respond is lost.
