Definition and Calculation of Seniority. (a) Seniority is the length of continuous service in the employ of the University and shall be calculated from the employee’s most recent date of such employment. (b) For clarity, where there has been previous employment in the bargaining unit, it will be acceptable to have a maximum 13-week gap in employment when calculating the seniority date. (c) Seniority will continue to accrue and will not be affected by absence resulting from any approved leave of absence as provided for in this Agreement. (d) Where seniority dates are the same, the following order of criteria will be used to make a distinction: (i) Hire Date (ii) Offer Letter Date
