Design Capacity. The station’s initial pumping capacity may be less than the ultimate design depending upon the size of the service area and the phasing of development. In such an installation, allowances for larger or additional pumping equipment must be made for future modification. If the initial design capacity is in excess of anticipated initial flow, the effects of the minimum flow conditions must be estimated to be sure that the retention of sewage in the wet well will not create an odor or corrosion nuisance, and that the pumping equipment will operate with reasonable frequency.
