Exchange of Shifts/Days Off. Employees may exchange their days off or shifts with the consent of the designated Employer representative. This approval shall not be unreasonably withheld.
Exchange of Shifts/Days Off. Employees may request, in writing, to temporarily exchange days off or shift assignments. Temporary exchanges of workdays or shift assignments require the approval of the immediate supervisor(s). The date requested for shift trade shall be mutually agreed upon by the employees involved. All requests for shift trade must be made in writing two weeks prior to the date requested; however, this requirement may be waived by the Chief of Police/Designee. Shift trade may not create overtime for either employee, unless approved by the Chief of Police/Designee.

If conditions arise during the assignment period which necessitates a change in shift assignment in order to provide effective delivery of services to the College, the College may temporarily change the employee’s shift and/or days off assignment provided the employee is given advance notice of forty-eight (48) hours. Exceptions to the forty-eight (48)-hour notice requirement are overtime opportunities, mutual agreement to waive the provisions, or an emergency, including emergencies, being declared by the President of the College or Chief of Police/Designee.
Exchange of Shifts/Days Off. The current practice of permitting officers of equivalent rank to exchange scheduled shifts and regular days off shall not be discontinued, except by agreement of the parties. The Department shall permit officers of equivalent rank to exchange scheduled shifts and regular days off by agreement of the parties, and such exchanges may be for periods of as long as one (1) month. Exchanges of longer than one (1) month shall involve the senior officer in the work unit who is willing to exchange such scheduled shift and regular days off. Exchanges over one month shall be limited to one (1) per calendar twelve month period. It shall be the obligation of the officer requesting the exchange to contact the senior officer on the seniority list. Any errors will not be the subject of the grievance process.

  • CALAMITY DAYS A. All bargaining unit members shall be paid their appropriate rate of pay for all days or parts of a day when the school in which they are employed is closed due to an epidemic or other public calamity. 1. All bargaining unit members who are requested by the Director, Superintendent, or his designee, to report to work on a calamity day shall be paid their regular hourly rate of pay in addition to calamity day compensation or shall have the option to take compensatory time for all hours actually worked. All compensatory time must be utilized during the contract year in which it was earned. B. The Superintendent or his designee shall determine which bargaining unit members normally will be required to report to work on calamity days. Notice will be sent to those bargaining unit members at the beginning of the school year, and they shall report to work on calamity days unless notified not to do so. Other bargaining unit members will not report for work on calamity days unless called and told to do so. C. When a bargaining unit member is called in to work on a calamity day, he/she shall be paid time and one-half his regular rate of pay for those hours worked outside his normal work hours. D. Bargaining unit members who report to work because they did not receive notice of the calamity day through no fault of their own shall be paid or receive compensatory time for work performed until they are sent home. Bargaining unit members shall be given a reasonable amount of paid work time to clean up, put away, and secure equipment after being told to leave. Paid time shall be a minimum of two (2) hours at the member’s regular rate of pay. E. Calamity days shall not be counted as hours worked for the purpose of determining eligibility for overtime payment.

  • Holiday Falling on a Scheduled Workday An Employee who works on a designated holiday which is a scheduled workday shall be compensated at the rate of double time for hours worked, plus a day off in lieu of the holiday; except for Christmas and New Year's when the compensation shall be at the rate of double time and one-half (2½) for hours worked, plus a day off subject to this Agreement.

  • Days Off 17.1 The Employer shall schedule two (2) consecutive days off for each employee each week provided that it is recognized that due to the nature of the Employer’s operation in providing a public service, the scheduling of two (2) consecutive days off may not always be feasible. The employer may request through the union that the employee forego two consecutive days off.

  • Time Off Between Shifts Failure to provide the minimum number of hours between the commencement of an employee's scheduled shift and the commencement of such employee's next scheduled shift shall result in payment of one and one-half (1½) times the employee's regular straight time hourly rate for only those hours which reduce the minimum hour period. Where the minimum period is reduced as a result of an approved change of shift(s) requested by the employee(s), such premium payment shall not apply. The minimum number of hours for purposes of this Article shall be determined locally and will be set out in the Local Provisions Appendix.
