Common use of Extended Tours Clause in Contracts

Extended Tours. (a) Extended tours shall be introduced into any unit when, i) seventy (70%) percent of the nurses in the unit so indicate by secret ballot, and ii) the Hospital agrees to implement the compressed work week, such agreement shall not be withheld in an unreasonable or arbitrary manner. (b) A compressed work week may be discontinued in any unit when: i) fifty (50%) percent of the nurses in the unit so indicate by secret ballot; or ii) the Hospital because of A) adverse effects on patient care, B) inability to provide a workable staffing schedule, or C) where the Hospital wishes to do so for other reasons which are neither unreasonable nor arbitrary, states its intention to discontinue the compressed work week in the schedule; (c) When notice of discontinuation is given by either party in accordance with paragraph (2) above, then: i) the parties shall meet within two (2) weeks of the giving of notice to review the request for discontinuation; and ii) where it is determined that the compressed work week will be discontinued, affected employees shall be given sixty (60) days notice before the schedules are so amended. (d) Scheduling regulations for extended tours shall be as follows: i) Not more than three (3) extended tours may be scheduled. Following three (3) consecutive tours, employees shall have two (2) days off duty. ii) The maximum number of tours worked in any given seven (7) day period shall be five (5). iii) The Employer will endeavour to schedule alternate weekends off but at least two (2) weekends off in four (4) will be scheduled. Failure to abide by the above scheduling regulations shall result in premium payment being paid in accordance with the provisions of Article 14.03.

(d) Scheduling regulations for extended tours If full-time lines are scheduled a combination of seven and one half (7.50) hour and eleven and one quarter (11.25) hour shifts, they shall not be as follows: i) Not scheduled more than three thirty-seven and one half (3) extended tours may be scheduled. Following three (3) consecutive tours, employees shall have two (2) days off duty. ii) The maximum number of tours worked in any given seven (7) day period shall be five (5). iii) The Employer will endeavour to schedule alternate weekends off but at least two (2) weekends off in four (4) will be scheduled. Failure to abide by the above scheduling regulations shall result in premium payment being paid in accordance with the provisions of Article 14.03.37

Extended Tours. (d) Scheduling regulations for Nurses who work extended tours shall be as follows:scheduled off at least every second weekend, unless mutually agreed otherwise. i(e) Not No more than three (3) consecutive extended tours may shall be scheduled, unless by mutual agreement. Following three If a nurse is scheduled to work on a fourth (34th) consecutive and subsequent tour, she/he will receive premium pay for each tour so worked until a day off is scheduled. (f) Part-time nurses who work both seven and one-half (7 ½) hour and extended tours, employees shall have two (2) days off duty. ii) The maximum number of tours worked not be scheduled to work in any given seven (7) day period shall be five (5). iii) The Employer will endeavour to schedule alternate weekends off but at least two (2) weekends off in combination more than four (4) consecutive tours. If a nurse is scheduled to work on a fifth (5th) consecutive and subsequent tour, she/he will be receive premium pay for each tour so worked until a day off is scheduled. Failure to abide by the above scheduling regulations shall result in premium payment being paid in accordance with the provisions of Article 14.03.

Extended Tours. (d) Scheduling regulations for extended tours shall be as follows: i) Not more than three (3) extended tours may be scheduled.
