The FIELD ENGINEERING clause defines the responsibilities and procedures related to engineering work performed at the project site. It typically outlines the scope of on-site technical services, such as supervision, troubleshooting, or modifications required during installation or construction. This clause ensures that qualified personnel are available to address technical issues as they arise, thereby facilitating smooth project execution and minimizing delays due to unforeseen engineering challenges.
Field Engineering. Construction Manager shall establish all grades, lines and levels necessary for the execution of the Work including the location of property lines and bench marks shown on the Drawings.

Design Build Entity shall retain and pay expenses of a civil engineer or land surveyor to establish the required Site reference points and benchmarks, establish building lines and elevations, check for building framing, plumbness, and establish on building frame(s) the required basic grid lines. The engineer or land surveyor shall be licensed in the State of California.
13.19.6.1. Design Build Entity shall locate and protect control points prior to starting Work on the Site, preserve permanent reference points during the Construction Work, and shall require the engineer or surveyor to replace control points which become lost or destroyed.
13.19.6.2. Design Build Entity shall verify all indicated dimensions before ordering materials or equipment and before performing Construction Work. Design Build Entity shall take field measurements, verify field conditions, and shall carefully compare such field measurements and conditions and other information known to Design Build Entity with the Contract Documents before commencing Construction Work. Errors, inconsistencies, or omissions discovered shall be immediately reported to Judicial Council and Design Build Entity’s Architect of Record. Upon commencement of any item of Construction Work, Design Build Entity shall be responsible for dimensions related to the Construction Work and shall make any corrections necessary to make Work properly fit at no additional cost to Judicial Council. Design Build Entity may delegate this responsibility to Subcontractors or agents but shall remain liable for associated errors and omissions.

District shall not be liable for any claim for allowances because of Design/Builder’s error, failure to follow best practices, or negligence in acquainting itself with the conditions at the Site.
3.13.4 Design/Builder shall protect and preserve established benchmarks and monuments and shall make no changes in locations without the prior written approval of District. Design/Builder shall replace any benchmarks or monuments that are lost or destroyed subsequent to proper notification of District and with District's approval.
Field Engineering. 40.1 The Contractor shall provide and pay for field engineering services required for the Project. This work shall include the following elements as detailed in the plans and specifications:
