Fire Prevention Division. Prerequisites:
Fire Prevention Division. Employees who are assigned full time to the Fire Prevention Division shall be paid at a rate one step above their regular rate of pay, except employees at the maximum step of the salary range who shall receive 5% above regular rate.
Fire Prevention Division. The normal work week for those employees performing fire prevention services will be a modified compressed work week consisting of thirty-eight (38) hours which shall include a half hour working lunch break; any alteration to the schedule will be by mutual consent. Evening shifts shall be involved when required.
Fire Prevention Division. The normal work week for the Fire Prevention Division is four (4) days per week to hours (core) and any changes thereto will be in accordance current Fire Prevention scheduling practices. It is understood and agreed that the normal work week consists of average. The Chief Fire Prevention Officer will work either a four (4) or five (5) day week, as designated. Fire Prevention Division. The bargaining unit positions in the Fire Prevention Division shall be classified as follows: Fire Prevention Officer All members of the Fire Prevention Division hired internally shall receive the rate of pay of a tenth year Firefighter in accordance with Schedule “A” of the Collective Agreement. Members hired externally shall receive the same rates of pay for Firefighters as set out in accordance with Schedule “A” of the Collective Agreement.

Fire Prevention Division. Hou rs of Work (a) The weekly hours of work fo ▇ ▇ ▇▇ ll-time employee of the Fire Prevention Division shall be equivalent to th i rty-seve n and one-half hours (37%) excluding meal periods, Monday th rough Friday inclusive from 08:30 hou rs to 1 6:30 hours. (b) By m utual ag reement of the Employer and the Union, the parties may implement a mod ified work week that provides fo r a schedule of four (4) days of work and th ree (3) days of rest in each week. Two (2) of the days of rest shall be Saturday and Sunday. The th i rd day (the flex day) shall be sched uled and will be a Monday, a Wed nesday, or a Friday. (c) Two (2) of the fo ur (4) sched uled days of work shall be 9 hours and 30 min utes of work in du ration and the other two (2) sched uled days of work shall be 9 hours and 15 minutes of work in du ration . (d) In the event of an unfo reseen circumstance, the Employer may di rect an employee to work on the sched uled flex day at straig ht time rates provided another day off in lieu is granted within the following bi-weekly period , otherwise overtime rates shall apply for having worked on the flex day. (e) It is understood that Article 9, Senior Pay, shall not apply to any employee perform ing duties of a senior officer who is on their flex day. (f) A sick day, vacation day, statutory holiday, or other paid leave from work shall be uti lized in an hourly eq u ivalent to the annual entitlement (for example 82 .5 hours of paid leave fo r 1 1 statutory holidays, 1 1 4 hou rs of paid vacation fo r an 8 year employee @ 15 work days (2 1 calendar days) , 90 hours of paid sick leave fo r a 5 year employee @ 12 days) . (g) Upon th i rty (30) days' notice the Union or the Employer may cance l any mod ified work week arrangement and revert to the normal sched ule of five

Fire Prevention Division a. For the Fire Prevention Division, the work shall be eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week. The work day shall be 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. The work day shall be eight (8) hours per day. Employees shall receive a sixty (60) minute paid lunch period. b. Upon mutual agreement of the employee and the Fire Chief, the employee's starting and quitting time may be adjusted to accommodate special programs or work assignments for a particular day. (An example of the foregoing would be inspection of facilities not open during regular hours of Fire Prevention Division employees. c. Upon mutual agreement of the employee and the Fire Chief, the employee can be scheduled for either a 4-day 10-hour schedule or a 5-day 8-hour schedule per week.
