Common use of Frozen Seniority Clause in Contracts

Frozen Seniority. Seniority will not accrue when an employee accepts a temporary position / acting assignment outside of the bargaining unit. Seniority accumulated as at the date of transfer to the temporary position will be retained and reactivated upon the employee's return to the bargaining unit provided the employee has not been in a non-bargaining unit position for a period greater than twenty-four months and provided s/he continues to pay dues to the CUPE 503 during his/her tenure outside of the bargaining unit.
