GRANT DESCRIPTION. Best practice strategies will be conducted to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in crashes involving pedestrians and bicyclists. The funded strategies may include classroom education, bicycle rodeos, community events, presentations, and workshops. These countermeasures should be conducted in communities with high numbers of pedestrian and/or bicycle related crashes including underserved communities, older adults, and school-aged children. Coordinated efforts such as Safe Routes to School initiatives, Safe System Approach, and working with community based organizations are highly encouraged to prevent fatalities and injuries of vulnerable non-motorized road users.

GRANT DESCRIPTION. The California Regional K-16 Education Collaboratives Grants Program (K-16 Program), which is housed within the California Department of General Service (DGS), Office of Public School Construction (OPSC), is made possible by a $250 million appropriation to DGS in the Budget Act of 2021. The K-16 Program is part of a statewide strategy for strengthening education-to-workforce pathways and ensuring that education, vocational, and workforce programs work in partnership to address the income, racial, and gender inequalities in education and employment. The Grant funds are awarded generally for purposes of supporting regional K-16 education collaboratives to create streamlined pathways from high school to postsecondary education and into the workforce. The Grant funds are further awarded in accordance with and for the purpose of the proposed scope of work associated with the application documents submitted by the Phase 2 application deadline of October 3, 2023. As proposed by the Grantee, the Grant funds shall result in the creation of the pathways and implementation of the recommendations noted in the applicant proposal. A copy of those documents is available as part of the grant application file maintained by the OPSC and is also retained by the Grantee for reference and for purposes of the project compliance review.

GRANT DESCRIPTION. The County Probation Department will work to reduce DUI related fatalities, injuries, and DUI recidivism. The worst-of-the worst, high-risk, felony, and repeat DUI offenders will be held accountable through intensive supervision to ensure compliance with court ordered conditions of probation and to prevent re-arrest on new DUI charges. Supervision activities include: monitoring of treatment and DUI program participation, conducting office visits, unannounced fourth waiver searches, field visits, random alcohol testing, and distribution of HOT sheets.

GRANT DESCRIPTION. The city/county/fire protection district will serve as the lead agency for a regional extrication equipment distribution grant for their county. The extrication equipment is used by first responders to safely extricate victims trapped in traffic crashes. Best practice strategies will be used to reduce the response time for the arrival of appropriate extrication equipment to traffic crash scenes and the time to extricate the victims of traffic crashes, thus increasing survivability. The grant will provide funding for new equipment and training for fire departments without extrication equipment or those that have existing equipment that has reached the end of its usable lifespan and is in need of replacement.
