Hours of Work and Work Rules. 15.1 Eight working hours in one day shall constitute a day’s work. Hours in excess of eight (8) on Monday through Friday shall be paid at the rate of time and one half. Hours in excess of forty (40) hours in any work week, shall be paid for at the regular overtime rate of time and one half (1½). a. All compensable hours worked from 12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Sunday shall constitute time and one half (1½) for the first Sunday worked, and shall count towards double time on every Sunday thereafter worked consecutively until a break in the schedule occurs on Sunday work. b. Employees required to report for work without a minimum of ten (10) hours between shifts, from end of shift, shall be compensated at the rate of time and one half (1½) for that shift. When possible, Employee’s start times for the upcoming day’s work will be posted at the dispatch office by 5:00 p.m. However, the determining factor for start times shall be by means of telephone call one hour prior to start time. d. If there are not at least ten hours between shifts going into a Saturday or Sunday, that shift will be paid at double time. e. Employees working in the shop, or loading a truck for the day’s work, shall be paid at the current LCPA rate (i.e. 80%). f. Employees required to start a shift between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. shall receive two dollar and eighty-five cents ($2.85) per hour premium added to their regular rate of pay for all hours worked on that shift. 15.2 The following shall be recognized as legal holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. If a holiday falls on Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered as a holiday. Overtime rate of double time (premium pay) shall apply to the above holidays, except no work at all shall be performed on Labor Day. In no event shall there be any pyramiding of one premium pay upon another. 15.3 Employees are prohibited from reporting to the job or shop more than thirty (30) minutes before working time. 15.4 It shall be understood that the preparation of materials and equipment or the cleaning up and removal of same is to be performed by employees or the Employer, within working hours.   • HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME ‌ 16.1 The regular scheduled work day for employees shall be no less than eight (8) hours and no more than twelve (12) hours depending on type of schedule. The normal work year is 2,080 hours and to be accounted for by each EMPLOYEE through: • hours worked on assigned shifts; • holidays; • assigned training; • authorized leave time 16.2 The Police Chief is responsible to ensure that the shift schedule throughout the work year equals 2080 hours. It is understood that the EMPLOYEE shall continue to have the opportunity to release this obligation through the EMPLOYEE’S participation in departmental training activities outside of the EMPLOYEE’S normal working hours. All hours remaining which are not charged to training shall be assigned to the EMPLOYEE by the Police Chief or designee for regular police duties. The Police Chief or designee shall maintain individual time records for each EMPLOYEE to ensure that the intent of this section is met and submit to Human Resources on January 1st of every year. 16.3 Overtime shall be at the rate of time and one-half and defined as all hours worked in excess of the EMPLOYEE’S regularly scheduled shift, eight consecutive work days, in excess of the average work week, or 2,080 hours in any calendar year. 16.4 The Police Chief or designee shall post all shift schedules five days or more in advance. All shifts projected to fall below minimum staffing requirements shall be filled without the use of overtime whenever practical. However, when a shift becomes available within a five-day period and is to be filled by overtime it shall be offered in the following order: 1. As equally as practicable to EMPLOYEES 2. If a shift is not filled by an EMPLOYEE, the shift will be offered to a Sergeant 3. If still not filled, then required to be split as equally as possible between the EMPLOYEES scheduled to work both adjoining shifts. 16.5 Overtime shifts available more than 5 days out will be distributed as equally as practicable. For the purposes of scheduling, this section shall apply to available shifts within the patrol division and contractual overtime. 16.6 Overtime refused by EMPLOYEES will for record purposes under Section 16.5, be considered as unpaid overtime offered for tracking purposes. 16.7 Overtime will be calculated to the nearest fifteen (15) minutes. 16.8 All EMPLOYEES will be allowed thirty minutes of work relief periods for each four (4) hours worked, which shall include coffee breaks and meals. This will be taken when affordable during such an EMPLOYEE'S regular tour of duty. 16.9 For the purpose of computing overtime compensation, overtime hours worked shall not be pyramided, compounded, or paid twice for the same hours worked. 16.10 Overtime shall be paid in the pay period it is earned.

  • HOURS OF WORK i) Where employees are now working a longer daily tour, the provisions set out in this Article governing the regular hours of work on a daily tour shall be adjusted accordingly. ii) The normal daily extended tour shall be 11.25 consecutive hours in any 24-hour period, exclusive of a total of forty-five (45) minutes of unpaid meal time. For hybrid schedules, there will be scheduled normal daily tours of seven and one-half (7½) hours and 11.25 consecutive hours per day. iii) Employees working an extended tour shall be entitled, subject to the exigencies of resident care, to paid relief periods during the tour of a total of forty-five (45) minutes. For hybrid schedules, there will also be shifts that provide for relief periods in accordance with Article 15.02. iv) Scheduling issues will be resolved at the local level. v) Where the union and the employer have agreed to or agree to an extended daily tour or hybrid schedule that differs from the normal daily extended tour, the proportion of unpaid time to hours of work shall maintain the same ratio as set out in paragraph ii) and iii) of this Article.

  • ARTICLE HOURS OF WORK The following provision designating regular hours on a daily tour and regular daily tours over the nursing schedule determined by the Hospital shall not be construed to be a guarantee of the hours of work to be performed on each tour or during each tour schedule. Subject to Article below:

  • HOURS OF WORK & OVERTIME Section 15.1 This Article is intended to define the normal hours of work per day or per week in effect at the time of execution of this Agreement. Nothing contained herein shall be construed as preventing the Employer from restructuring the normal workday or workweek as necessary to promote efficiency or improve services, or from establishing the work schedules of employees. However, nothing in this Section shall relieve the Employer of its duty to bargain the affects of such decisions on employee wages, hours, terms and other conditions of employment. This Article shall be used as the basis for computing overtime for employees who are not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and shall not be construed as a guarantee of hours of work per day or per week. Section 15.2 Employees may take one paid fifteen (15) minute break for every four (4) hour block worked. Employees may combine breaks to take up to one (1) sixty (60) minute paid break. Employees may not leave campus on their paid breaks. Section 15.3 Bargaining unit employees who are not exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act will be paid one and one-half times their normal hourly rate for all hours actually worked in excess of forty (40) hours per work week. All overtime shall have prior supervisory approval, except when it is necessary for a nurse to remain on duty to protect patient safety. Only hours actually worked are counted for the purpose of computing an employee's eligibility for overtime pay. There shall be no pyramiding of hours or pay. Section 15.4 The Board serves individuals 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. To meet this need for service to our individuals evening and weekend hours may be required of any bargaining unit employee. The Employer will establish the standard work day as beginning at 6:00 a.m. and ending at 5:59 a.m. and starting and ending times for each shift in each department. Supervisors will establish daily workschedules. Section 15.5 Absent an emergency situation, management will notify the Union in the event management intends to institute a long-term change in the present shift times for nurses. Following notification and upon request by the Union, management will meet with the Union to discuss the reason for the change and possible alternatives.
