Hours of Work/Leave. 2.10.1 Employees shall work such hours as may be reasonably required of them to enable them to properly fulfil their responsibilities as teachers whether or not such hours exceed 40 hours per week. The normal hours of work for employees should as far as practicable however not exceed 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. 2.10.2 It is acknowledged that employees are required to undertake such duties as: - Preparation, evaluation and assessment time generated by classes/sessions and the students within them, or by other requirements such as the need to report on the progress of individual students; - Counselling of students; - Administrative responsibilities of individual teachers; - Attending courses and meetings; - Professional development in addition to their normal class contact time, and that these factors have been taken into consideration in determining the employee’s hours of work and leave entitlements. 2.10.3 Except as provided in 2.10.1 employees shall not be required to attend school during any time when the school is officially closed for instruction. However Boards may require employees to attend school or elsewhere, when the school is closed for instruction (except on weekends or public holidays unless by agreement) for up to ten days per school year (or the equivalent) for all or any of the following purposes – school administration, school preparation and co- ordination, pre-term planning curriculum and/or technical refreshment and/or professional development. The employer will endeavour to arrange matters at the school in such a way that any requirement under this section is not unreasonable and that employees’ individual needs are taken into account. Employees’ own initiatives in undertaking work for the above purposes shall be counted when applying this clause. 2.10.4 Where employees are required to attend school or elsewhere when the school is closed pursuant to 2.10.3 they shall be reimbursed for any actual and reasonable costs incurred in accordance with Part 5 of this Agreement. 2.10.5 Any employee required by their employer to work on a Public Holiday (as listed in section 44 Holidays Act 2003) shall be paid time and a half rates as per section 50 of that Act. 2.10.6 Teachers will take their annual leave outside the gazetted term dates.

The employer must provide decent living conditions including but not restricted to: Decent shelter (protection from the weather) An individual bed Full access to toilet facilities Space for personal items and clothing The employer shall also provide adequate meals every day as per the FCCs dietary requirements, allergies and religious requirements.

Hours of Work/Leave. In this agreement, “day” means a twenty-four (24) hour day commencing at Officers will work a twelve (12) hour day normally in two (2) six (6) hour watches, during navigation season. Hours of Work/Leave. The shall perform such hours of work as may from time to time be reasonable required of him for the performance of his duties as and shall not be entitled to receive any additional remuneration for work outside his normal hours; The shall be entitled during every calendar year to such annual leave as the Board and the shall from time to time agree based on a six (6) day working week in addition to statutory holidays, during which his remuneration hereunder shall continue to be payable. Leave shall be taken at such times as the Board shall consider most convenient having regard to the requirements of the Company’s business. Any leave not taken when due may not either be carried over to any subsequent calendar year or be compensated for by the Company paying cash in lieu of leave not taken unless in either case the Board specifically agrees otherwise in writing.

  • HOURS OF WORK & OVERTIME Section 15.1 This Article is intended to define the normal hours of work per day or per week in effect at the time of execution of this Agreement. Nothing contained herein shall be construed as preventing the Employer from restructuring the normal workday or workweek as necessary to promote efficiency or improve services, or from establishing the work schedules of employees. However, nothing in this Section shall relieve the Employer of its duty to bargain the affects of such decisions on employee wages, hours, terms and other conditions of employment. This Article shall be used as the basis for computing overtime for employees who are not exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and shall not be construed as a guarantee of hours of work per day or per week. Section 15.2 Employees may take one paid fifteen (15) minute break for every four (4) hour block worked. Employees may combine breaks to take up to one (1) sixty (60) minute paid break. Employees may not leave campus on their paid breaks. Section 15.3 Bargaining unit employees who are not exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act will be paid one and one-half times their normal hourly rate for all hours actually worked in excess of forty (40) hours per work week. All overtime shall have prior supervisory approval, except when it is necessary for a nurse to remain on duty to protect patient safety. Only hours actually worked are counted for the purpose of computing an employee's eligibility for overtime pay. There shall be no pyramiding of hours or pay. Section 15.4 The Board serves individuals 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. To meet this need for service to our individuals evening and weekend hours may be required of any bargaining unit employee. The Employer will establish the standard work day as beginning at 6:00 a.m. and ending at 5:59 a.m. and starting and ending times for each shift in each department. Supervisors will establish daily workschedules. Section 15.5 Absent an emergency situation, management will notify the Union in the event management intends to institute a long-term change in the present shift times for nurses. Following notification and upon request by the Union, management will meet with the Union to discuss the reason for the change and possible alternatives.

  • HOURS OF WORK i) Where employees are now working a longer daily tour, the provisions set out in this Article governing the regular hours of work on a daily tour shall be adjusted accordingly. ii) The normal daily extended tour shall be 11.25 consecutive hours in any 24-hour period, exclusive of a total of forty-five (45) minutes of unpaid meal time. For hybrid schedules, there will be scheduled normal daily tours of seven and one-half (7½) hours and 11.25 consecutive hours per day. iii) Employees working an extended tour shall be entitled, subject to the exigencies of resident care, to paid relief periods during the tour of a total of forty-five (45) minutes. For hybrid schedules, there will also be shifts that provide for relief periods in accordance with Article 15.02. iv) Scheduling issues will be resolved at the local level. v) Where the union and the employer have agreed to or agree to an extended daily tour or hybrid schedule that differs from the normal daily extended tour, the proportion of unpaid time to hours of work shall maintain the same ratio as set out in paragraph ii) and iii) of this Article.

  • HOURS OF WORK AND OVERTIME 2.1 Eight consecutive hours, exclusive of meal period, shall constitute a day's work. 2.2 With the adoption of the shorter work week everything possible will be done to maintain the present output of work in offices where such employees are presently assigned less than eight hours per day. The employees agree to a review of the situation, upon request, at any time during the life of this Agreement at which time assigned hours of work may be discussed. 2.3 Where service required is intermittent, eight hours actual work within a spread of 12 hours shall constitute a day's work. Employees filling such positions shall be paid overtime for all time actually on duty or held for duty in excess of eight hours from time required to report for duty to the time of release, within 12 consecutive hours and also for all time in excess of 12 consecutive hours computed continuously from the time first required to report until final release. Time shall be counted as continuous service in all cases where the interval of release from duty does not exceed one hour. 2.4 All work in excess of eight hours in any one day shall be considered as overtime and paid on the actual minute basis at the rate of time and one-half time. 2.5 Employees notified or called upon to work not continuous with, before or after the regular work period, shall be allowed a minimum of three hours at the rate of time and one-half for three hours' work or less and if held on duty in excess of three hours, time and one-half will be allowed on the minute basis. 2.6 Employees will not be required to suspend work during regular hours to absorb overtime. 2.7 Employees will be assigned two consecutive rest days off duty each week with preference given to Saturday and Sunday and then to Sunday and Monday. If required to work on such regularly assigned rest days, they shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half time on the actual minute basis with a minimum of three hours at time and one-half, for which three hours service may be required. 2.8 The pro rata hourly rate shall be arrived at by dividing the weekly rate by 40. 2.9 Employees desiring to bank overtime may elect to do so under the following criteria:

  • Ordinary Hours of Work The ordinary hours of work will be worked any time between 6.00am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Ordinary hours of work may be varied by agreement between the Employer and the majority of the employees concerned and the ETU State Secretary (via the relevant full time ETU Official) to accommodate the hours or work required for the most efficient and safe operation of the Employer and the requirements of its client. Where agreement is reached to work alternate hours, occupational health and safety principles will prevail. Proper health monitoring procedures will be introduced and suitable rosters clearly agreed prior to commencing work. Adequate supervision must always be provided. Matters on which agreement may be reached include: a) How the hours are to be averaged in a work cycle b) The duration of the work cycle
