The Inservice Programs clause establishes the requirements and procedures for providing training or educational sessions to employees during their employment. Typically, this clause outlines the types of programs to be offered, such as professional development workshops or compliance training, and may specify who is responsible for organizing and attending these sessions. Its core practical function is to ensure that employees receive ongoing education relevant to their roles, thereby maintaining or enhancing workforce skills and compliance with organizational standards.
Inservice Programs. In order to assist employees in developing new skills, the Board may require inservice training. Employees who are required to be enrolled in inservice programs, which cause the employee to travel outside Okeechobee County, shall receive mileage at the Board approved rate. Employees required by their immediate supervisor to attend local inservice training programs outside the normal working hours shall be paid at the rate provided in the current salary schedule.
Inservice Programs. A. Employees shall be eligible to participate in in-service programs offered by independent agencies or the District, provided there are available registrations, and further, employees shall be entitled to develop appropriate in-service training programs.
B. On days designated as Superintendent’s Conference Days, employees shall attend workshops developed for the bargaining Unit and approved by the supervisor unless their attendance is requested by their building principal at school building programs and approved by the supervisor.
C. A $500.00 (per school year) fund shall be established which may be used for the purpose of paying for costs such as film rental and speaker honorarium on Superintendent’s Conference Days and during Unit 10 workshops.
Inservice Programs. The bargaining unit shall be allowed input on inservice programs. All inservice programs shall be applied toward re-certification requirements if approved by the Staff Development Committee and Superintendent. Teacher representation on the Professional Development Committee developing the District’s Professional Development Plan for submission to the State shall be appointed by the President of the Rochester Federation of Teachers.
Inservice Programs. To further support efforts in continuing education, the Highline- Education Steering Committee (ESC) shall be asked by the Medical Center, as a joint request of the Employer and the Union, to explore possible alternatives to help improve job-related inservices, such as inservice availability, staff coverage for inservice attendance, announcement improvements, monthly department presentations, “lunch ‘n learn” programs, etc. The ESC shall periodically report on its review and decision(s) to the parties’ Labor-Management Committee.
Inservice Programs. The Board shall seek the Association’s advice on arranging inservice courses, workshops, conferences and programs designed to improve the quality of instruction in the Rose Tree Media School District. Such advice shall be coordinated through the Professional Development Committee.
Inservice Programs. (a) The parties of this Collective Agreement recognize the value of continuing in-service education for Employees and that the responsibility for such continuing education not only lies with the individual, but also with the Employer. For the purpose of this Article, the term “in-service” includes: orientation, acquisition and maintenance of essential skills, and other programs which may be offered by the Employer.
(b) The Employer reserves the right to identify specific in-service sessions as being compulsory for Employees and those required to attend such sessions shall be paid at the applicable rate of pay for the time in attendance. The in-service programs shall be compulsory and shall be provided to Employees on an annual basis. These in-services shall include, but are not limited to the following:
(i) Emergency response and evacuation procedures;
(ii) Occupational Health & Safety matters (eg. safe lifting, prevention of back injuries, ▇▇▇▇▇, etc.);
(iii) Prevention of abuse, Protection for Persons in Care legislation and regulations;
(iv) Privacy and confidentiality.
(c) Employees who, with the prior approval of their Supervisor, attend an in-service or development program shall not suffer a loss of pay for such attendance. An Employee who is required to attend a training course or seminar, shall be paid at straight time for attendance at such a meeting.
(d) The Employer shall make available other in-service education programs as deemed appropriate for the purposes of maintaining proficiency.
(e) The Employer shall make available CPR training. Training expense for LPN’s shall be borne by the Employer.

For the purpose of this Article, the term “in-service” includes: orientation, acquisition and maintenance of essential skills, and other programs which may be offered by the Employer.
(b) The Employer reserves the right to identify specific in-service sessions as being compulsory for Employees and those required to attend such sessions shall be paid at the applicable rate of pay for the time in attendance. The following in-service programs shall be compulsory and shall be provided to Employees on an annual basis:
(i) CPR (only when established by the Employer as a mandatory requirement after an Employee is hired);
(ii) Fire, evacuation, and disaster procedures;
(iii) Proper lifting and prevention of back injuries;
(iv) WHIMIS;
(v) PPIC;

(a) The parties of this Collective Agreement recognize the value of continuing in-service education for Employees and that the responsibility for such continuing education not only lies with the individual, but also with the Employer. For the purpose of this Article, the term “in-service” includes: orientation, acquisition and maintenance of essential skills, and other programs which may be offered by the Employer.

(iii) WHIMIS;
(iv) PPIC
(v) Abdominal Thrust
(c) Employees who, with prior approval of their supervisor, attend in-service programs which are not identified as compulsory by the Employer shall suffer no loss in regular earnings for attending such programs.
(d) The Employer shall make available other in-service education programs as deemed appropriate for the purposes of maintaining proficiency.

Inservice Programs. The Board agrees to the inclusion in the contract of the present Board policy for in-service programs and payment. In-service programs conducted during the normal school day are excluded from additional payments. All other in-service programs conducted outside the normal working day are subject to payment under Schedule C. All employees are expected to attend professional development sessions as scheduled during the school day. In terms of this Article, the year is defined as July 1 to June 30.
