LEGISLATIVE POWERS Clause Samples

The "Legislative Powers" clause defines the authority and scope granted to a governing body or entity to create, amend, or repeal laws and regulations within a specified jurisdiction. This clause typically outlines which body—such as a parliament, congress, or board—holds the power to legislate, and may specify the types of matters or subjects over which this authority extends. For example, it might clarify whether the legislative body can enact laws on taxation, public safety, or commerce. The core function of this clause is to establish clear boundaries and responsibilities for lawmaking, thereby preventing disputes over jurisdiction and ensuring orderly governance.
