Line and Grade Clause Samples

The "Line and Grade" clause establishes the requirement for construction work to be performed according to specified reference lines and elevations set by the project owner or engineer. In practice, this means the contractor must follow precise horizontal and vertical measurements when laying out structures, such as roads, pipelines, or buildings, and may be responsible for verifying or maintaining these reference points throughout the project. This clause ensures that the finished work aligns with the intended design, preventing costly errors or misalignments and promoting consistency and quality in construction.

Line and Grade. 1. The Work shall conform to the lines, elevations, and grades shown on the Plans. Three consecutive points set on the same slope shall be used together so that any variation from a straight grade can be detected. Any such variation shall be reported to the City’s PM. In the absence of such report, the Surveyor shall be responsible for any error in the grade of the Work. 2. Grades for underground conduits will be set at the surface of the ground. The Design-Builder shall transfer them to the bottom of the trench.
Line and Grade. Line and grade for the entire work will be established and laid out by the Engineer or Inspector. The Contractor shall execute the work to such line and grade.
Line and Grade. 1. Establish line and grade for pipe by use of lasers.
Line and Grade. 7.7.3.1 All work shall conform to the lines, elevations, and grades shown in the Contract Documents. 7.7.3.2 Three (3) consecutive points set on the same slope shall be used together so that any variation from a straight grade can be detected. Any such variation shall be reported to the Engineer. In the absence of such report, the PDBT shall be responsible for any error in the grade of the finished work. 7.7.3.3 Grades for underground conduits will be set at the surface of the ground. The PDBT shall transfer them to the bottom of the trench.
Line and Grade a. Established by Manager. b. 1 pitch every 4 feet toward street (elevations above curb line), for drainage wherever possible.
Line and Grade. All work required for the Work shall conform to the lines, elevations, and grades shown on the plans approved by the Company. Changes in the line and grade will require a revision to the approved plans in accordance with the provisions of these specifications.
Line and Grade. The new concrete curb and gutter shall be accurately placed in accordance with the line and grade as established by the Engineer. S-22.4 Removal and Replacement Excavation, removal of concrete, concrete curbing, sidewalks, pavement material, or any other items required to be removed for the completion of this project shall be removed from the construction site and disposed of by the Contractor. The concrete curb shall be sawed at each end of the section of curb to be removed. The Contractor will be responsible for all damage to the curb and gutter resulting from his operations beyond the limits marked repair all such damages, at no additional cost.
Line and Grade. A. The Contractor shall not deviate more than 1/2-inch for line and 1/4-inch for grade from the line design and design grade established by the Engineer provided that such variation does not result in a level or a reverse sloping invert. He shall measure the grade at the pipe invert and not at the top of the pipe. The Contractor shall furnish, set and control the line and grade by laser beam method. Other methods of controlling line and grade may be submitted to the Engineer for approval if using the laser beam method proves to be impractical because of other conditions. B. The Contractor shall drive a substantial stake on each side of the trench on a line at right angles to each stake of the primary line. A straight and even-edged 2-inch by 6- inch board shall be nailed or clamped to the stakes in a level position and at an even foot height above the grade line of the proposed sewer. The centerline of the proposed sewer shall be located by measuring the primary line stake marking the board. No less than three lines and grade boards shall be set and immediately checked visually for errors in line and grade. As each additional board is placed, it shall be checked visually for error in line and grade. At least three boards shall be maintained at all times. During the laying of the pipe, a ▇▇▇▇▇ twill line shall be fastened to the boards at the center of alignment marks and pulled sufficiently tight to remove any noticeable or measurable sag. The line and grade of each pipe shall be obtained by measuring down from the string line by means of a plumbed grade pole. C. The Contractor shall use the laser beam method of maintaining line and grade. The Contractor shall submit evidence to the Engineer that a qualified operator shall handle the equipment during the course of construction. A "Caution-Laser Light" placard shall be displayed in a conspicuous place. When "in the pipe" method is used, grade boards shall be installed for the first 50 feet of pipe. The Contractor shall check the line and grade at any additional points at which offset stakes have been placed and when requested by the Engineer. A fan shall be provided to circulate the air if bending of the beam due to air temperature variations becomes apparent with "in the pipe" units. However excessive air velocity shall not be permitted to cause pulsating or vibrating of the beam. If, in the opinion of the Engineer, the beam cannot be accurately controlled, this method of setting line and grade shall be di...

  • Course Curriculum, Instruction, and Grading ▇. ▇▇▇▇ College courses offered as dual credit, regardless of where they are taught, follow the same syllabus, course outline, textbook, grading method, and other academic policies as the courses outlined in the Hill College catalog. B. Approved courses being taught for dual credit must follow the approved master syllabus of the discipline and of Hill College. C. Textbooks should be identical to those approved for use by Hill College. Should an instructor propose an alternative textbook, the textbook must be approved in advance by the appropriate instructional department of Hill College and the Vice President of Instruction. Other instructional materials for dual credit/concurrent courses must be identical or at an equivalent level to materials used by Hill College. D. Courses which result in college‐level credit will follow the standard grading practices of Hill College, as identified by college policy and as identified in the appropriately approved course syllabus. The grades used in college records are A (excellent), B (above average), C (average), D (below average), F (failure), I (incomplete), W (withdrawn), WC (withdrawn COVID). The lowest passing grade is D. Grade point averages are computed by assigning values to each grade as follows: A = 4 points, B = 3 points, C = 2 points, D = 1 point, and F = 0 points. Grading criteria may be devised by Hill College and the ISD to allow faculty the opportunity to award high school credit only or high school and college credit depending upon student performance. E. Faculty, who are responsible for teaching dual credit/concurrent classes, are responsible for keeping appropriate records, certifying census date rosters, providing interim grade reports, certifying final grade reports at the end of the semester, certifying attendance, and providing other reports and information as may be required by Hill College and/or the School District.
