Pyramiding of Rates Clause Samples

The "Pyramiding of Rates" clause prohibits the compounding or stacking of multiple premium pay rates for the same hours worked. In practice, this means that if an employee qualifies for more than one type of premium pay—such as overtime, holiday, or shift differentials—only the highest applicable rate is paid for those hours, rather than adding the rates together. This clause ensures that employees are compensated fairly without the employer incurring excessive payroll costs for overlapping premium pay situations, thereby preventing double-counting and clarifying pay calculations.
