Required Rest Period. Any employee who works over sixteen (16) hours continuous work shall receive no less than eight (8) hours of uninterrupted rest before reporting back to work. In addition, the employee will receive a 1/2 hour travel time home and a 1/2 hour travel time to return to work (a total of one (1) hour travel time). Any employee who works over twenty-four (24) hours of continuous work shall receive no less than twelve (12) hours of uninterrupted rest before reporting back to work. Should said rest period overlap the employee's normal shift time, the employee will receive Administrative Leave for those hours during the required rest period, which overlap the employee's normal scheduled work shift.

Required Rest Period. No employee shall be required to work in excess of a straight sixteen hour period of employment. This means that an employee who begins their period of employment at 7:00 am and is required to work beyond the normal quitting time of 3:30 pm must “go off the clock” at 11:00 pm. Should an employee be required to work in excess of twelve (12) hours, that employee will not be required to return to their place of employment until that employee has been removed from his place of employment for a period of eight (8) hours.

  • Rest Period During each normal work day, Saturdays, Sundays, and shift work, employees will be entitled to two (2) ten (10) minute paid rest periods to be scheduled and observed. When working a four (4) day, ten (10) hour schedule, the rest period will be fifteen (15) minutes each. - one (1) rest period at the mid-way point of the first half of the normal hours of work; - one (1) rest period at the mid-point of the second half of the normal hours of work. Rest period will be measured from ceasing work to commencement of labour and will be taken at a time determined by the employer.

  • Meal Breaks and Rest Periods For each seven and one-half (7 ½) hour shift, subject to the provisions of Article 14.09, the Employer shall provide an unpaid meal break of one-half (½) hour and paid rest periods totalling one-half (½) hour, not to be taken in less than two (2) breaks. The Employer shall schedule meal breaks in such a way that an Employee be permitted to leave their work area. Operational requirements may be such that these breaks may not be able to be taken off the premises. These breaks shall be prorated for shift duration.
