Rest Period Between Shifts. An employee changing from one work shift to another work shift shall receive a rest period of not less than eight (8) hours between shifts. As a result of such change of shift, an employee shall not be scheduled to work two (2) shifts which begin on the same day.

Rest Period Between Shifts. Except in emergencies or by mutual agreement, an employee shall have an unbroken rest period of twelve (12) hours between shifts. This Section does not apply to those employees who are on standby.

If said eight (8) hour rest period extends beyond the worker's regular starting time, the worker will only be required to work the remaining time of said worker's regular work shift to be compensated for the complete work shift. In the event a worker qualifies under the provision of this Article and said worker is required to return to duty prior to completion of the eight (8) hour rest period, time and one-half (1½) compensation will be provided in addition to regular pay for the remaining time necessary to complete the rest period.
