Overtime shifts shall be distributed to bargaining unit employees desiring such shifts on a rotating seniority basis provided that bargaining unit employees desiring such overtime work opportunities provide notice to the Manager that they have made themselves available and provided the bargaining unit employee is available when needed and has the skill and abilities to perform the work. Each unit or department shall establish a mechanism to enable bargaining unit employees to make themselves available for overtime opportunities. There shall be no mandatory overtime except in an emergency, and/or, in case of Critical Care Transport employees, for any transport that starts during the employee’s regularly scheduled shift. No bargaining unit employee will be required to begin an unplanned transport that will knowingly take them past 16 hours from the beginning of their shift.
