Shift Extensions. 36.1. Shift extensions may be one (1), two (2), three (3) or four (4) hours duration and will be notified by the start of the main meal break in consultation with the Team Leader and Delegate. 36.2. The length of the extension will stand unless cancelled by the end of the seventh (7th) hour of the shift. 36.3. The notified shift extension may be increased by the end of the seventh (7th) hour of the shift should unforeseen circumstances arise, such as mechanical breakdown, ship equipment/mechanical breakdown or adverse weather conditions. In these situations, all circumstances associated with such requirements will be discussed with the Team Leader and Delegate. 36.4. Where an Employee is required to extend and is unavailable due to personal commitments, he/she will not be compelled to do so provided there is sufficient personnel and/or skills available to complete the planned work. 36.5. Employees must give notice of non-availability at the toolbox meeting for each shift unless an unexpected emergency arises. 36.6. All Employees will be paid for all hours including the notified extension. 36.7. If a Permanent Employee is notified of a shift extension during a shift of at least eight (8) hours, the number of hours extended will be credited towards AAH at the rate of double the hours.
