The Local and the Board shall publish the dates of meetings to be held in each Superintendency early in the school year.

Short-Term Professional Development Leave. An employee may be granted leave with pay for the purpose of attending off campus training and development meetings that are of fewer than six (6) work days in duration. If any such leave is approved by Management, the employee may also be reimbursed, in whole or in part, for travel expenses incurred in attending such meeting. If the approved leave involves an overnight stay, an employee is not required to share a room with another employee. Application for such leave shall be submitted in writing to the employee’s immediate supervisor or his or her designee at least ten (10) calendar days prior to the use of such leave.

  • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

As a self-regulating profession, nursing recognizes the importance of maintaining a dynamic practice environment which includes ongoing learning, the maintenance of competence, career development, career counselling and succession planning. The parties agree that professional development includes a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to formal academic programs; short-term continuing education activities; certification programs; independent learning committee participation.
