TEACHING ASSIGNMENTS AND HOURS. 7.1 Unless necessary to satisfy laws or regulations related to hours of student instruction, the scheduled working day for all teachers shall not exceed 7 3/4 hours, except on staff meeting days, when the working day is extended to allow time for meetings. All teachers shall report to their first teaching assignment at least fifteen (15) minutes before classes begin, unless they are performing job related functions. All teachers shall remain in the building at least fifteen (15) minutes following dismissal of classes, unless they are performing job related functions. Teachers will be released twice a month immediately after final student dismissal for ▇▇▇▇▇▇ City-▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ Education Association meetings. 7.2 Teachers shall be given the equivalent of five (5) unassigned preparation periods per week. With the staff resources available an effort will be made to allow elementary teachers not less than one (1) thirty (30) minute preparation period each day. The normal weekly teaching load shall consist of not more than twenty-nine (29) instruction hours, unless a greater number of instruction hours are necessary in order to satisfy State laws and regulations pertaining to hours of instruction.
