TEACHING HOURS AND CONDITIONS. A. The regular school day for teachers will be 7 hours, 45 minutes including lunch. On Fridays, and on days before holidays and vacations, teachers may leave 15 minutes after the end of the student day. There will be a common starting and ending time for all teachers in all buildings (7:30 a.m. – 3:15 p.m.).
B. The normal weekly teaching load will not exceed 28.5 pupil contact hours per week.
C. All teachers shall have a duty-free lunch of at least 35 minutes plus 5 minutes passing time (passing time does include the supervision of students). It is understood that teachers may be assigned to assist the Administration during lunchtime as part of their normal teaching assignment.
D. All teachers shall have at least one preparation period per day or receive compensation for the same. During the preparation period the teacher will be engaged directly in work- related activities. The preparation period will be at least 45 minutes. Elementary teachers will have a minimum of 200 minutes of planning time each week during the student day. In the event that it is necessary for teacher(s) to teach an extra class assignment during their preparation period, volunteers shall be sought from the tenured teaching staff who are certified, qualified and available for the particular class to be taught. In the event that two or more volunteers are equally certified and qualified (as determined by the building administrator), assignments will be made in order of seniority. Such assignments shall be non-continuing. If the need for the teacher(s) to teach during their preparation period continues into another semester or school year, volunteers will again be sought and must reapply for the assignment. Non-tenured teachers shall only be considered for extra class assignment in the event that there are no certified, qualified, tenured teachers who volunteer for the assignment. Placement of a non-tenured teacher to an extra class assignment shall be made only after consultation with the GEA president.
E. The parties recognize that adequate school facilities are desirable to enhance the high quality of education that is the goal of both the Board and the Association.
1. Because the pupil/teacher ratio is an important aspect of an effectual educational program, the Board will maintain a pupil/teacher ratio of less than 24 to 1.

TEACHING HOURS AND CONDITIONS. 4.1 The teacher's normal teaching day (hours) in the Posen Consolidated School shall be as follows:
1. Teachers shall check in no later than 8 a.m.
2. Elementary teachers shall be at assigned place of duty at 8:00 a.m. Secondary Teachers shall be at assigned place of duty at 8:05 a.m.
3. Teachers will leave school no earlier than 3:15 p.m. (In no case shall teachers leave before all buses have left the school grounds.)
TEACHING HOURS AND CONDITIONS. A. The Board and Association recognize the principle of a standard forty (40) hour work week. The Board will as far as possible, set forth work schedules and make professional assignments which can reasonably be completed within such standard work week.
B. Unless arrangements are made with the Administration:
1. Elementary teachers shall be in their classrooms before the start of the student instructional day and middle school and high school teachers shall be in their classrooms five (5) minutes before the start of the student instructional day.
2. Middle school teachers shall be at school thirteen (13) minutes before the start of the student instructional day.
3. High school teachers shall be at school sixteen (16) minutes before the start of the student instructional day.
4. Elementary teachers shall remain at school until student dismissal. Middle school and high school teachers shall remain at school for five (5) minutes after student dismissal.
5. The length of the elementary teacher workday shall be seven (7) hours. The length of the secondary day shall be seven (7) hours.
C. Failure to be on duty during the times specified in Paragraph B above shall be cause for disciplinary action.
D. Teachers shall attend meetings and other assignments called or assigned by the Administration as a regular part of their teaching duties unless otherwise excused by the Administration. In emergency situations, teachers may be required to be on duty until dismissed by the Administration. Teachers shall be expected to attend one (1) open house each school year. Teachers who attend the open house may leave at any time after noon on a records day upon completion of grades and other records.
E. Teachers shall be entitled to a thirty-minute (30), duty-free uninterrupted lunch period.

TEACHING HOURS AND CONDITIONS. A. A normal day as used in this contract shall not exceed eight (8) hours of continuous shift, including a thirty (30) minute duty free lunch period. Within the eight (8) hours, teachers and supervisors will create a work schedule that will allow teachers at least thirty (30) minutes before student contact time begins and at least thirty (30) minutes after student contact time ends. If it becomes necessary to go beyond the regular work day, additional time may be flexed out by the teacher. Scheduling of the (30) minutes before and after school can’t be accomplished if it results in the District becoming non- standard as defined by ODE. This provision does not preclude the supervisor from scheduling before and after school duties. The Association and the District recognize that two open houses per year shall constitute exceptions to the normal workday. These two exceptions to the normal workday shall not exceed two (2) hours in each case. The first open house will be scheduled by May 31st and the second open house will be scheduled by September 30th. Both open houses will be on the district calendar prior to the end of September. If other after school obligations are scheduled, they will be optional and the employee shall be given the opportunity to flex the time during non-student contact time. The scheduling of flex time will be worked out between the teacher and his/her principal or supervisor. On the last working day of the week, teachers may leave up to thirty minutes early only after all assigned tasks and professional obligations have been completed, buses have left, students have left the teacher’s area of supervision and the teacher has checked and responded to e-mails and phone messages (mailboxes and voice mail). It is understood that meetings will only be scheduled after students leave on the last working day of the week in unusual circumstances.
B. Grades K-3 elementary teachers shall have a minimum of thirty (30) minutes uninterrupted duty free preparation time daily during student contact time. Grades 4-5 elementary teachers shall have a minimum of forty (40) minutes uninterrupted duty free preparation time per day during student contact time. The District recognizes the needs of teachers to have unassigned work time and will endeavor to preserve that time. TEACHING HOURS AND CONDITIONS. Section A: Teachers shall be required to be on duty for a period of not more than seven (7) hours fifteen (15) minutes except as specified in subsection (1) hereof. Said period shall be distributed in accordance with general administrative rules established after consultation with teachers in a building or their representative.
1. Teachers shall be required, as a regular part of their teaching duties, to attend faculty meetings called by the administration, grade or department meetings, curriculum meetings (not to exceed one (1) hour in length nor more often than twice per month outside of the regular teaching day), parent-teacher meetings, conferences, and an open house.
2. At the request of either party, consultations with regard to time apportionments shall be initiated.
Section B: Within aforementioned schedule, teachers shall be provided an unassigned lunch period which shall be equal in length to the student lunch period.
Section C: Secondary teachers normally will be provided one regular preparation period per day according to the scheduled assignment. It is expressly understood that elementary teachers will not be required to be present in the classroom during periods in which their class is receiving instruction from teaching specialists, and that such time is for preparation and planning. Elementary teachers will be provided with at least forty-five (45) minutes of consecutive planning time (except kindergarten may have planning time split into two periods per day) for each full school day. Adjustments in the schedule due to school delays, cancellations, or other reasons such as in-service, assembly, and special programs may result in reduction of planning time where the cancellation or delay affects the schedule of the “specials.”
Section D: If a secondary teacher teaches more than the normal teaching periods for a period of at least twenty (20) consecutive teaching days, he shall receive additional compensation prorated to one-sixth (if in a six (6) period day) or one-eighth (if in an eight (8) block schedule) of his salary (excluding pay for extracurricular activities) during such period. The acceptance of more than the normal number of teaching periods will be voluntary.

TEACHING HOURS AND CONDITIONS. A. The Board agrees at all times to maintain a list of substitute teachers. Teachers must report unavailability for work prior to 7:00 a.m. Once a teacher has reported unavailability, it shall be the responsibility of the Administration to arrange for a substitute teacher. The use of regular teachers as substitute teachers shall be avoided whenever possible. Whenever a classroom teacher is asked by an Administrator to forfeit his/her planning period to take over a class for another teacher, he/she shall be compensated at the rate of .07% of BA step 1 salary per period forfeited.
B. Teachers are to be in their respective buildings at least 20 minutes beyond the student day. These minutes can be before school, after school or a combination thereof.
C. A teacher shall request permission from his/her building administrator or designee to leave earlier than the time set forth in Part B. The administrator may require the request be confirmed in writing.
D. Teachers are encouraged to remain for a sufficient period after the close of the normal school day to attend to those matters which properly require attention at that time, including consultations with parents and students, when scheduled directly with the teacher, except that on days preceding holidays or vacations, the teachers' day shall end at the close of the pupils' day.
E. In the junior and senior high a normal teaching load shall consist of five (5) classes in a six (6) period day or six (6) classes in a seven (7) period day. One (1) period in the teaching day shall be for planning and preparation, and working with students and parents. If, with the consent of the teacher, this period is used for teaching on a permanent basis, the teacher shall be paid one-sixth (1/6) of his/her step pay for the remaining days under the contract.
F. All teachers shall be entitled to a duty-free uninterrupted lunch period of a minimum of thirty (30) minutes in the secondary and forty (40) minutes in the elementary.
G. Elementary classroom teachers will receive a guaranteed minimum of two hundred and fifty (250) minutes preparation time each week during which time their classes will receive instruction from various teaching specialists. Preparation time shall be for planning and preparation, collaboration with colleagues, meeting with administrators, and working with students, and parents.
