Unit Members Transferred Out of the Police Department. A) A unit member transferred out of the Police Department to fill a permanent vacancy shall have his or her seniority frozen as of the date of his or her transfer, and during the six (6) months following the date of his or her transfer may return or be returned to the job he or she held at the time of the transfer, or if that job no longer exists, to any job to which his or her seniority entitles him or her. After the expiration of this six- (6) month period, the unit member shall lose all seniority in the Police Department. B) A unit member assigned out of the Police Department to fill a temporary vacancy (not to exceed three (3) months) will continue to accumulate seniority, and when returned to the Police Department will be returned to the job he or she held at the time of assignment.
