Common use of Unit Seniority Clause in Contracts

Unit Seniority. ‌ Members who are laid off shall maintain their positions on the unit seniority roster during the recall period and shall accrue additional unit seniority during that time. If recalled to work within the recall period, the member shall return with the same unit seniority they had accrued at the time of the recall. If hired into any other classification, the member shall return as a new employee and be rehired with a new seniority date. If an opening develops in the member's original classification after they have taken another position within the Department, they may return to the original classification with no loss of seniority. The College shall recognize the member's total length of service as outlined in KSC policy for fringe benefit purposes if the member is rehired into another classification within the recall period.
