Container Attachments definition

Container Attachments. ’ means non- pressure bearing parts attached to the container that provide additional support and/or protection to the container and that may be removed only with the use of tools for the specific purpose of maintenance or inspection. Container attachments do not refer to the structures that physically attach the container(s) to the vehicle. NHTSA will not rely on the manufacturer to specify container attachment configurations as this adds unnecessary complexity.
